Rodrigo Bueno, known as El Potro, is closely associated with Córdoba’s cuarteto culture. His music helps visitors look beyond a Buenos Aires-only account of Argentine popular sound.

Context for the Recording

Rodrigo’s career reached a wide audience through recordings and performances; songs such as Soy cordobés remain associated with his identity. He died in a road accident on June 24, 2000. This is a historical artist profile, not a notice of an upcoming performance.

What to Listen For

Notice the dance rhythm and the relationship between the singer and audience. In a vocal recording, pick out repeated phrases and listen for accent and emphasis. A live clip may tell you as much about participation as about the studio arrangement.

The Featured Recording

The original Mente feature’s media are retained below. A recording illustrates a musical moment; it does not promise that the artist is currently performing in Buenos Aires.
