Yet another musical tradition\u00a0that helps to\u00a0define Argentine culture is the unique sounds that we have come to call\u00a0Chamam\u00e9<\/b> . Chamam\u00e9 is a genre of folklore music from the northeastern portion of Argentina as well as southern of Brazil. \u00a0It’s sound is distinct from other Argentine Folklore because it was\u00a0brought by Volga German immigrants who hailed from European Russia, resulting in a sound that\u00a0resembles very much the polka. \u00a0The polka like music was then influenced by both Spanish guitar and Gaurani sounds, mixing together to produce a whole new and eclectic\u00a0sound.<\/p>\n
Perhaps the most interesting part of Chamam\u00e9 is the accompanying\u00a0dance. A hopping hoot of a folklore partner dance complete with gaucho hats and long flowing skirts.\u00a0With the large amount of movement from the north of argentina into Buenos Aires,Chamam\u00e9 is present even here in the big city. \u00a0Keep an eye out and join in if you have the chance.<\/p>\n
Raul Barboza is recognized as one of the most important solo chamam\u00e9 musicians. He put out more than 30 original albums and gained international fame throughout Brasil, Germany, Spain, Holland, France, and Japan.<\/p>\n
