Los Gatos belong to the story of how local musicians built a rock culture in Spanish. The band is a useful starting point for hearing early rock nacional without assuming that one record explains the entire movement.

Litto Nebbia’s own account of those beginnings emphasizes musicians contributing through songs, styles and attitudes, rather than one person single-handedly inventing the genre. Use the group’s music as a doorway into its wider scene and the artists who followed.

Listen for the relationship between a clear melody and the ensemble behind it. Choose a short vocal passage and notice the phrasing. Then compare it with another Argentine rock recording from a different decade.

The original Mente feature’s media are retained below. A recording illustrates a musical moment; it does not promise that the artist is currently performing in Buenos Aires.
