The parties are often held in\u00a0antique\u00a0theaters or unique\u00a0spaces that give the sense that Billie Holiday or\u00a0Louis Armstrong could turn the corner at any moment. Everyone in the room is dancing &#8211; \u00a0hopping and swinging with the music as the follows spin and swivel their hips and the leads stomp and kick rhythmically. Although Buenos Aires is quickly associated with <a href=\"https:\/\/menteargentina.com\/6\/Short-Programs\/8\/Tango-Program-in-Argentina\">t<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/menteargentina.com\/6\/Short-Programs\/8\/Tango-Program-in-Argentina\">ango<\/a>, travellers never cease to be amazed at the wide array and impressive quantity of music, dance, theater, fine art, (need I go on?) that Buenos Aires has to offer.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"SWINGIN&#039; PARTY! - Niceto Club | Lado A - Septiembre 2014\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Qg8y0QBmSe8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Believe it or not, the Buenos Aires swing scene is booming and expanding every day. It is the largest swing scene in South America is working towards supporting the growth of neighboring South American swing scenes. With internationally known teachers, several well put together weekly parties, and new and exciting events popping up all of the time, the scene is in full swing, so to speak.\u00a0\u00a0In recent years the swing scene has moved into one of the biggest clubs in the city, <a href=\"https:\/\/nicetoclub.com\/\">Niceto club,<\/a> with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/677729575660514\/\">Swingin&#8217; Nights party.<\/a> Buenos Aires has one leg up on many other cities- it&#8217;s tendency towards <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menteargentina.com\/blog\/drinking-like-a-poretno\/\">insomnia<\/a>. The city&#8217;s reputation for it&#8217;s late nights holds true for it&#8217;s swing parties- many of which end around 5am.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.menteargentina.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/rotation-1.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5116 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.menteargentina.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/rotation-1-300x99.gif\" alt=\"rotation (1)\" width=\"588\" height=\"194\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.menteargentina.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/rotation-1-300x99.gif 300w, https:\/\/www.menteargentina.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/rotation-1-696x230.gif 696w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 588px) 100vw, 588px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Swing dance is an umbrella term used to describe a number of dances that arose primarily in\u00a0New York City\u00a0starting from the 1920&#8217;s and lasting through the 1940&#8217;s, a time coined as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/art\/swing-music\">Swing Era<\/a>. \u00a0The most popular of the swing dances are the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=yA-wf98ZZmg\">Lindy Hop <\/a>(sometimes referred to as the Jitterbug) and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=wAwjqRAXMXQ\">Charleston <\/a>followed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=NjWQgLsyggI\">Balboa <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=uUGsLoZYXb4\">Collegiate Shag<\/a>. Swing is often danced with a partner, with basic steps and a lot of room for improvisation. \u00a0Although the dance largely died down\u00a0after World War II, the younger generation has forced a resurgence and swing scenes have been popping up in major cities all over the world.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Boogie Woogie Competition WILD | Rock That Swing 2016\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Bx743aah7o8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>With a group of amazingly talented and dedicated teachers, you can find a swing class any day of the week to suit your level here in Buenos Aires. The great thing about swing is that it has a warm and accepting culture that surrounds it &#8211; the people in the scene want to keep the dance alive and are welcoming and encouraging to newcomers.
