Getting To and From the Airport in Buenos Aires: EZE & AEP Guide (2025 Update)

-

First things first: before arriving in Buenos Aires, it’s essential to research your airport transfer options. You’ll likely arrive tired and a bit confused, so do yourself a favor and browse this guide to have a clear plan upon arrival.

This guide covers transfers for EZEIZA (EZE) International Airport and Aeroparque Jorge Newbery (AEP) Domestic/Regional Airport.

EZEIZA (EZE) – Ministro Pistarini International Airport

EZE is located about 45 minutes to 1.5 hours away from the city proper (Capital Federal), depending on traffic and your final destination.

1. Mente Argentina Private Transfer (Most Recommended)

  • Option: Included Service
  • Cost: $0 (Included in your program fee)
  • Details: If you are a Mente Argentina participant (for example, in the Intensive Spanish Program or Internship Program), your transfer to and from EZE is included and will be professionally coordinated for you. Look for your driver holding a Mente Argentina sign upon arrival. This is the most comfortable, safest, and stress-free option.

2. Official Airport Taxi / Remís (Most Comfortable Paid Option)

  • Option: Private Car Service
  • Estimated Cost: $30–$60 USD (Varies widely depending on the current exchange rate and destination, paid in USD, foreign credit card, or at the blue-chip rate equivalent in pesos).
  • Details: This is the most comfortable option for travelers with lots of luggage. CRITICAL SAFETY TIP: Never take an unmarked taxi from outside the terminal. Pre-pay your ride inside the terminal at the official counters (like Taxi Ezeiza or Tienda León Remís). This ensures a fixed, secure rate and a licensed driver.
  • Recommendation: Use a ride-share app (like Uber or Cabify) via Wi-Fi for better rates, but confirm your driver’s identity and license plate before getting in. These services operate but must be pre-booked on your phone.

3. Express Bus Shuttle (Recommended Mid-Range Option)

  • Option: Tienda León (formerly Manuel Tienda León)
  • Estimated Cost: AR$10,500 – AR$15,000 (Approx. $10-15 USD equivalent, as of Oct 2025, subject to change).
  • Route: EZE to the Terminal Madero (Retiro area).
  • Details: This popular shuttle runs frequently (roughly every 30-60 minutes), 7 days a week. It offers a fast, reliable, and comfortable journey with dedicated luggage storage. From Terminal Madero, you will need to take an additional taxi or public transport to your final destination.

4. City Bus AKA Colectivo (Cheapest Option)

  • Option: Public Bus (Line 8)
  • Cost: AR$500 – AR$700 (Requires a SUBE card).
  • Route: Bus Line 8 offers a direct (but very slow) service from EZE to the city center (Plaza de Mayo and Plaza Congreso).
  • Details: This is the cheapest method, but the journey lasts 2+ hours. It is not recommended if you have a lot of luggage, as the buses can be crowded. Ensure the bus sign explicitly says “Aeropuerto Ezeiza.”
  • Safety Note: The historical route Line 51 to Constitución is generally discouraged for new arrivals due to the high-crime reputation of the Constitución transport hub (check our Safety tips blog post for more info).

AEROPARQUE JORGE NEWBERY (AEP) – Domestic/Regional Airport

AEP is conveniently located within the city limits, in the northern neighborhood of Palermo, making transfers very fast. The ride takes just 15–30 minutes to most central locations.

1. Ride-Share or Taxi (Easiest and Best Value)

  • Option: Uber, Cabify, or Hailing a Radio Taxi.
  • Estimated Cost: $5–$15 USD equivalent.
  • Details: Given AEP’s central location, a taxi or ride-share is the quickest and most reasonable choice, especially if you are traveling with one or two others. It’s a short, cheap trip straight to your door.

2. City Bus AKA Colectivo (Requires a SUBE Card)

  • Option: Public Bus (Lines 33, 37, 45, 160, and 34, 130)
  • Cost: AR$500 – AR$700 (Requires a SUBE card).
  • Details: Many bus lines stop directly outside AEP. This is fast and cheap, but highly challenging with large luggage.
  • Tip: Use the BA Cómo Llego app (The city’s website for navigating transport) to find the best route to your accommodation.

💳 Essential: The SUBE Card

To use any public transportation in Buenos Aires (buses, Subte (subway), or trains), you must have a rechargeable SUBE Card.
