Weekend Highlights: December 6-8

-

For those of you staying for an extended amount of time, this weekend is the last one we are likely to experience a little peace and quiet. Why, you ask? The administration is changing on December 10th following the recent presidential elections. Alberto Fernández will assume the presidency and buckle your poorly-manufactured (because Argentina) seatbelts because things are about to get interesting. Keep your eye out for news articles covering this pivotal and unstable time in Argentine economics and politics. Might be a little fun project to track the dolar-peso exchange rate or social protests in the wake of all this c-h-a-n-g-e. Too academic? Ok, I’ll stop talking politics and give you some cool ideas to fill your weekend with music and fun!

P.S. “Quilombo” is Argentine slang for big mess… or disaster… or any word with a close-ish meaning. 😉 ¡Este país es un quilombo!

Fiesta (Britney) Plop!

britney plop

We more than recommend Plop. In true Argentine fashion, however, the dancers tend to come out to throw some moves on the stage a little late. Late is early in the Southern Hemisphere, folks!

Doors open at 1am (show starts at like… 2:30am) /Teatro Vorterix – Federico Lacroze & Alvarez Thomas / More Info

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 7

BANDALOS CHINOS

chinos

Pop + rock = Bandalos Chinos. They are playing at Konex, which has bomb acoustics to enjoy this genius combination of various genres.

Feria Navideña Anticrisis

Speaking of the economic crisis, this mash-up between a street fair and yard sale offers artesanal items for purchase starting at $100 pesos. Real talk: not a bad deal at all. Check it ouuuuuuuut!

Noon – 5pm / La Casa del Arbol – Córdoba 5217 / More Info

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 8

Japanese Food Festival

japonesa

To my understanding there will be lots of culture (a.k.a. dancing, music) and food! Also, there is no charge for entrance!
