Hi, my name is Megan. I'm from San Diego, California. I came here to do the TEFL program with Mente, teaching English. My program was a month long, and then I actually lived here for six months, teaching in companies. Mente placed me and my boyfriend in a private apartment here in Palermo, which is a great part of the city. It is in the center of everything. There are bars and restaurants nearby. Mente was really great in working with me on my program. I actually had to make a few changes. I actually dropped another program that I was doing, and they accommodated me perfectly. There were no problems with what I needed personally. My favorite thing with them was participating in all the events every week. They would offer something different, so we got a chance to go to some cool shows. We went to museums and happy hour and really got to know the people who were here. That was really cool. It was really scary planning to come to Argentina, because we didn't know what to expect, but Mente definitely made everything go really smoothly. They communicated with us really well, and I wouldn't change this experience for anything. Thank you, Mente, and thank you, Argentina.
My name is Chloe. I'm from the States, and I have been traveling in South America. When I decided to get certified as an English teacher, I found Mente. I spent four weeks with Mente doing the TESOL certification program, and I actually got a job before I had finished, so I will be staying in Buenos Aires to work. I was able to do so. It has been a really good opportunity to get started and establish a life here.
Hi, I'm Maria. I am from San Francisco, in California, and I came to Argentina to do the TEFL program, teaching English as a foreign language, and I booked it through Mente. It was great. The course was amazing. All of my instructors were great, and Mente was incredibly helpful through every part of the process. I never had any doubts or questions about what was going on. They answer everything, and they are super helpful. I definitely would recommend it.
The on-site TEFL / TESOL Program runs in scheduled cohorts rather than starting every Monday. For 2027, cohorts begin on March 8, June 7, August 2, September 6 and October 11.
Because each course progresses as a cohort, apply early enough to complete the interview and enrollment steps before your preferred session begins.
Both options use the same core TEFL / TESOL teacher-training program.
The 5-week option includes Intensive Spanish during the fifth week while you complete any remaining TEFL assessments, exercises or course activities. The 9-week option includes that same TEFL structure and adds four additional weeks of Intensive Spanish, giving you more time for language development and immersion in Buenos Aires.
Both options lead to the same TEFL / TESOL certification.
No. Previous teaching experience is not required. The course is designed to develop lesson planning, methodology, classroom management and practical teaching skills from the ground up, while also giving experienced teachers a structured qualification pathway.
No. Native English speakers are assumed to have the required language command. Non-native speakers need a strong command of English, approximately C1–C2 equivalent, in both spoken and written communication.
You do not need to present IELTS, Cambridge or another official English certificate. Mente Argentina evaluates your English through the application and a pre-enrollment interview, which can be completed by video call.
Yes. The 130-hour on-site course combines methodology and theory with 10 hours of supervised classroom observation and 20 hours of hands-on teaching practice with real Spanish-speaking students. You also receive feedback and ongoing evaluation from the trainers.
After successfully completing the course, you receive a TEFL Certification Course certificate (Teaching English as a Foreign Language Certificate) issued in conjunction with Global Language Training LTD.
The provider operates within established UK training and qualification frameworks, including UKRLP registration and international validation/accreditation relationships. The on-site course totals 130 academic hours and includes supervised observation and real teaching practice.
Yes, the qualification is designed to prepare you to teach English to non-native speakers and strengthen applications for English-teaching roles in Argentina and internationally.
Mente Argentina also provides job-search assistance, including CV support, interview preparation, orientation to the Buenos Aires teaching market and connections with language schools and organizations that regularly need teachers. Employment is not guaranteed, and visa/work requirements vary by country and employer.
The main additional requirement is English proficiency. Non-native speakers need a strong command of English, approximately C1–C2 equivalent, and complete a pre-enrollment interview so we can confirm they can successfully follow the training.
No official IELTS or Cambridge certificate is required. Previous teaching experience is not required.
Booking and Payments
Booking is simple. Create your Mente Argentina account, complete the basic application with your preferred dates and program details, and pay the Registration Fee to secure your place.
You do not need to have every flight, document or accommodation detail finalized on day one. You can update your application as those details become available.
Most Mente Argentina programs do not have one universal application deadline, but places are first come, first served and availability can become limited, especially for accommodation and small-group programs.
If you already know when you would like to come, applying early gives you the best choice. If your preferred start date is close, contact us and we will tell you what is still possible.
The Registration Fee is the one-time payment that confirms your place with Mente Argentina and starts the enrollment process. You pay it once, even if you combine more than one Mente program.
Your Registration Fee remains valid for two years from the date it was originally paid. Within that period, you can postpone your program, change dates, switch programs or return to Mente Argentina without paying a new Registration Fee.
Yes. You can combine up to three compatible Mente Argentina programs during the same weeks, and we coordinate the schedules to avoid conflicts. Two simultaneous programs is the most common combination.
If you want to do four or more experiences, the best approach is usually to spread them across different weeks—for example, two programs during the first part of your stay and two different programs later. You can also mix durations, such as four weeks of Spanish with a two-week Tango or Cooking Program.
Usually, yes. Extensions are possible subject to space in your program and accommodation.
If you think you may want to stay longer, tell us as early as possible; around three weeks' notice gives us a better chance of keeping everything continuous. You do not need to decide before you arrive.
Planning Your Stay
Yes. International and domestic flights are not included in the program fee, so you book your own travel to Buenos Aires.
If your on-site package includes Mente Argentina accommodation, arrival and departure transfers are included at no extra charge from either Ezeiza International Airport (EZE) or Aeroparque (AEP). Send us your flight details once they are confirmed; you can secure your program before buying your flights.
Mente Argentina offers accommodation in popular Buenos Aires neighborhoods such as Palermo, Belgrano, Barrio Norte and Recoleta. Depending on the program, you can choose a shared apartment with a private room, student residence, homestay or private apartment.
Wi-Fi, utilities and weekly cleaning service are included at no extra cost in every Mente Argentina accommodation type. Homestay meals are not included by default; participants can add them. Other options include a kitchen so you can cook. Common spaces vary by housing type.
Yes. If you already have a place to stay in Buenos Aires, ask us for the program-only option.
Our standard packages are designed to make the whole experience easy, but you do not need to pay for accommodation you already have arranged.
It depends on your nationality, length of stay and program. Many participants can enter Argentina without arranging a visa in advance, while longer academic programs or some nationalities require additional immigration documentation.
Mente Argentina is registered with RENURE and can provide the documentation and guidance required for eligible student-residence or visa processes. Check the current Visa Information page or contact us with your nationality and program length before making immigration decisions.
Yes. Current Argentine migration rules require foreign entrants to declare that they have valid health insurance for their stay.
We recommend a travel policy that includes medical coverage for your full time in Argentina and, ideally, protection for cancellations, delays and luggage as well. You may choose any provider that gives you appropriate coverage in Argentina.
You will have a local Mente Argentina team in Buenos Aires throughout your program, including arrival orientation and 24/7 support for unexpected situations.
All on-site participants also receive the same core Mente benefits: a local SIM, SUBE public-transport card, gym access, access to Mente Argentina's exclusive Palermo Soho space and terrace, the participant WhatsApp community, and a rotating calendar of Included Buenos Aires Experiences.
Our team is based locally, so support is not just a phone number. You can reach us for practical questions, local recommendations, program coordination or help if something unexpected happens.
Your on-site program includes a rotating calendar of curated social, cultural and local experiences in Buenos Aires, with tickets and participation included at no extra cost.
Depending on the week, these can include theater performances, football experiences, guided neighborhood or city tours, bike tours, museum visits, Argentine barbecues, dinners, food events, happy hours and other paid activities around the city.
These are organized experiences designed to help you discover Buenos Aires, meet other participants and become part of the Mente Argentina community—not simply a list of free things to do.
