What’s Included

Our Intensive Spanish Program is designed to help you achieve rapid progress through total immersion in the language and culture of Buenos Aires. You will take 20 hours of group lessons per week, led by certified native instructors who specialize in teaching Spanish as a foreign language.

Classes are dynamic, interactive, and adapted to your appropriate level — from complete beginner to advanced. The focus is on communication, ensuring you can use Spanish confidently in real-life situations while improving grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation.

All tuition fees, course materials, placement tests, and certification costs are included in your program fee. Small class sizes guarantee personalized attention, and the modern facilities at our Spanish school provide an inspiring learning environment with multimedia tools and comfortable classrooms.

Whether your goal is to study for academic credit, prepare for university courses, or simply gain fluency while exploring Argentina, these intensive lessons offer the perfect balance of structure, challenge, and fun.

Upon successfully completing your Spanish course, you will receive an official Mente Argentina Certificate of Completion recognizing your language achievement and participation in the program. The certificate specifies your course level, total hours completed, and learning outcomes, making it a valuable document for your academic or professional portfolio.

For participants who need to earn university credits, Mente Argentina also offers the option to obtain an official university transcript issued by one of our partner universities in Buenos Aires. This option must be requested prior to the start of your program and is ideal for students who wish to transfer academic credit to their home university or fulfill degree requirements.

Whether you’re studying for personal enrichment, academic advancement, or professional development, your certification from Mente Argentina — and the possibility of earning accredited university credits — provides formal recognition of your effort and success in mastering the Spanish language in one of Latin America’s most vibrant cultural capitals.

We understand that accommodation is a key element in ensuring that you have a great time in Buenos Aires. That’s why we offer a wide range of housing options in the best areas of the city — Palermo, Barrio Norte, Recoleta, and Belgrano. These neighborhoods are renowned for their safety, charm, and proximity to parks, cafés, shopping, nightlife, and public transportation.

Choose from private apartments, shared apartments, university dorms (hostel-type), or homestays. No matter which option you choose, your program fee covers all expenses — including electricity, gas, water, internet access, cleaning services, and maintenance. You can relax and enjoy your stay without worrying about hidden costs.

At Mente Argentina, we want your arrival and departure from Buenos Aires to be as smooth and comfortable as the rest of your experience. That’s why we include round-trip private airport transfers as part of your program — from the moment you land until the day you head home.

Arrival Pick-Up (Ezeiza or Aeroparque): A professional driver will be waiting for you at the airport holding a sign with your name. You’ll be taken directly to your accommodation, where your on-site Program Coordinator will greet you and help you get settled in — ensuring a stress-free start to your stay in Argentina.

Departure Drop-Off: When it’s time to say goodbye, we’ll also arrange your airport transfer to make sure you arrive on time for your flight. If you decide to extend your stay or travel after completing your program, our team will still assist you in organizing transportation for your return flight from Buenos Aires.

We know that arriving in a new country can be both exciting and overwhelming — that’s why Mente Argentina provides a personalized Welcome to Buenos Aires & Local Orientation led by your dedicated Program Coordinator.

Upon your arrival, your Coordinator will personally meet you at your accommodation to welcome you and deliver your Mente Argentina Welcome Kit. During this orientation, you’ll receive essential information about your program, daily life in Buenos Aires, and the local porteño culture — from navigating public transportation and finding nearby amenities to insider recommendations for cafés, supermarkets, and local events.

This one-on-one check-in is also your chance to build a personal connection with your local Coordinator, who will remain your main point of contact and support throughout your stay. From your first day, you’ll have a trusted local resource ensuring that your transition is smooth, safe, and enjoyable.

Your Mente Argentina Welcome Kit is waiting for you upon arrival — a thoughtful selection of essentials to help you feel comfortable and prepared from day one in Buenos Aires.

It includes a local SIM card to stay connected, a SUBE transportation card for the subway and buses, a detailed welcome guide, and city maps highlighting our favorite local spots. You’ll also find a small taste of Argentina — a sweet treat like a traditional alfajor or local snack — plus a bottle of water to enjoy after your flight.

Every item in your kit has been chosen to make your first hours in Buenos Aires easy, welcoming, and authentically local.

Staying connected in Buenos Aires is essential for both safety and convenience. That’s why Mente Argentina provides reliable communication options for all participants — so you can stay in touch with friends, coordinators, and family from day one.

Option 1: Local SIM Card
Upon arrival, you’ll receive a local SIM card with an initial credit, giving you an Argentine phone number right away. It’s easy to add credit at convenience stores or kiosks across the city, ensuring you’re always connected.

Option 2: Borrowed Phone
If you prefer not to use your own device, you can borrow a phone from Mente Argentina. It comes preloaded with useful contacts, emergency numbers, and key information. A refundable USD 200 security deposit is required, which is returned once the phone is returned at the end of your program.

We recommend sharing your local Argentine number with parents or loved ones for peace of mind. With these options, you’ll have everything you need to communicate easily and safely throughout your stay.

Mente Argentina values your well-being and provides every participant with a Health Club Membership at one of Palermo’s most renowned fitness centers. The club is fully equipped with state-of-the-art machines and offers a wide range of group classes throughout the week — from yoga and functional training to spinning and dance.

Your membership is completely free of charge and valid from Monday to Saturday, allowing you to maintain your fitness routine while staying active and energized during your time in Buenos Aires.

Beyond fitness, it’s also a great way to meet locals, relieve stress, and stay balanced throughout your program. Stay healthy, stay inspired, and make the most of your experience with this exclusive Mente Argentina benefit.

Our cultural activities, tours, and excursions are one of the highlights that make Mente Argentina Programs truly unique. We believe the best way to understand a culture is to live it — that’s why all our tours and activities are completely free of charge and designed to help you experience Buenos Aires like a local.

Enjoy guided city and bike tours through iconic neighborhoods such as Recoleta, San Telmo, and Palermo Soho. Visit world-class museums including the MALBA and the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, and take part in special lunches and dinners at traditional Argentine restaurants — all included in your program fee — where you’ll savor authentic dishes like asado, empanadas, and dulce de leche.

You’ll also enjoy access to theater performances, tango shows, and other cultural events that showcase Argentina’s artistic soul. Beyond the experiences themselves, these outings are a perfect opportunity to meet locals and connect with other Mente Argentina participants from around the world.

Immerse yourself in Argentina’s rich cultural heritage through hands-on experiences that go beyond the classroom. Learn the language of Buenos Aires through music, movement, and shared traditions.

Take part in group tango lessons led by local instructors — a fun and authentic way to experience one of Argentina’s most iconic art forms. You’ll also join cultural gatherings that celebrate mate, Argentina’s national drink, and discover the customs, etiquette, and social meaning behind this beloved ritual.

These cultural activities are designed to help you connect more deeply with Argentine traditions, meet locals, and feel part of the country’s rhythm and everyday life.

Improve your Spanish, meet new people, and experience Buenos Aires in a fun and social way through our Conversation Exchange Partner Passes.

These passes give you access to local language exchange events held weekly in cafés, bars, hotels, and cultural centers across the city. You’ll practice Spanish with native speakers while helping them improve their English — all in a relaxed, friendly environment that encourages real cultural exchange.

It’s one of the best ways to make local friends, connect with other international participants, and experience authentic Argentine hospitality while boosting your language confidence.

Mente Argentina provides comprehensive assistance with all visa and immigration requirements to ensure a smooth and stress-free arrival in Buenos Aires.

We are officially registered with the Argentine National Immigration Office (Dirección Nacional de Migraciones) under RENURE Identification, which allows us to sponsor and issue the necessary documentation for student and cultural exchange visas.

The friendships and professional connections you build here often become key relationships for your future — and memories you’ll never forget.

To help you settle in comfortably, all Mente Argentina participants receive two extra nights of accommodation at no additional cost before their program officially begins.

This means you can arrive in Buenos Aires on the Saturday or Sunday prior to your start date and have a couple of days to rest, explore the city, and get oriented before classes or activities begin.

These additional nights give you time to adjust to the local time zone, meet your roommates, buy essentials, and start your experience feeling relaxed and ready. If you wish to arrive even earlier, extended stays can be easily arranged depending on your accommodation type — just let our team know and we’ll handle the details.

Planning to travel before or after your program? We’ve got you covered. Mente Argentina offers secure luggage storage at our Student Reception Office in Buenos Aires — free of charge for all participants.

You can safely leave your bags with us while you explore Argentina or neighboring countries, and retrieve them when you return. Our team will coordinate everything to ensure your belongings are safely stored and ready for pick-up whenever you need.

It’s another way we make your stay easier, so you can focus on enjoying your travels without worrying about logistics.

Linnea

United States

Hi, my name is Linnea, and I'm originally from Washington State, but I have been living in California. I actually studied abroad in Buenos Aires previously. There was a study abroad program, and I loved the city, so I wanted to come back. I am between my undergrad and graduate school. It was a lot worse with my Spanish, so it was really good to jump into the Spanish classes when I first got here. I have been improving my Spanish a lot. I also went to a conversation club in a cafe and practiced Spanish. That was really helpful for my Spanish also. I just had a really good time in the city. I love the parks. I like to go running in the parks and walking along the lakes and things like that. The city has great restaurants, great nightlife, and the people are super friendly. Whenever I get lost or have problems on the street, someone is always there to help me. I have had a really great time in Buenos Aires, and I would definitely recommend Mente, and you should definitely come visit Argentina.

Gautam, University of Texas-Austin

United States

Hey guys, I'm Gautam. I just finished the Mente Argentina program. This is my last day, which is kind of sad, but I want to tell you a little bit about my experience here. I got here a month and a half ago, and Mente has been amazing at introducing me to a second language and hooking me up with a great internship at a hospital. The work I was involved in was pediatrics. It's a great experience for people who are in college, or maybe after college, who want to gain experience in another country. I also did the Spanish study abroad program, the intensive program, which is amazing. You're in a class for four hours a day and you learn Spanish. One of the big things for me has always been learning a second language. I've been taking classes in high school and in college, but I've never been able to grasp Spanish. Coming to Buenos Aires, you're just immersed in the culture, and you really learn Spanish at a very high level and very rapidly. Another thing I'm happy about is that Mente hooks us up with cell phones that we use here. They take care of the ride to the airport and back. All these small things that you don't think of before planning a trip, they take care of for you. I also wanted to visit Mendoza, which is the wine country in Argentina, and they planned it all out for me, told me how to do it, and found the safest way. It's a little scary traveling to another country, maybe for the first time, and for me it was my first time in South America. I was happy that somebody guided me along the way, showed me the best places to go, the best places to eat in Buenos Aires, and the safe areas to shop. I really have to thank Mente Argentina for that. If anybody needs any help, I'm Gautam. You can take my email down and shoot me an email if you have any questions.

Hi, I'm Julia. I'm from Poland, and I did a Spanish language program and a tango program here. I loved it to the point that I just want to stay here and live here, so I think that speaks enough for how great an experience it was. I wanted to thank Mente for organizing everything, especially because it was really last minute. I decided to arrive literally three days before the program started, and everything was arranged and ready, waiting for me. That was fantastic.

Hi, my name is Joanna. I'm from Bordeaux, France, and I came here with Mente Argentina to learn Spanish, because I didn't know it before. Now, after about five months, I can speak more Spanish about everything, so it is cool. I went to a tango class too. It was amazing, really amazing, to learn tango in Buenos Aires. You meet a lot of people, and I have very good friends now from everywhere around the world. I think I can make a tour of the world now, because I have friends from everywhere. If you can go, just go to Argentina with Mente.

Lu, Colorado School of Mines

United States

Hi, I'm Lucas Baumgartner. I'm from San Diego, California, and I go to university at the Colorado School of Mines, doing engineering. I was here in Argentina for the two-month Spanish program, and then the semester at the university, where I studied history, culture, literature, economics, and all that. First, with Mente they supply you with activities and housing, and that is really important, because the vast majority of my friends came through the Mente program. I have many more friends from the Mente program than I do from the Spanish school or from the university. Try to go to the events when you can. After a while you have plenty of friends, so don't worry. In Argentina you really just need to make sure to have fun and explore, especially Buenos Aires, such a big city. Have fun doing it. There is so much to do. I have been here for six months, and I still have hardly seen anything in Buenos Aires. There is still so much to see and so much I have to do, so I am going to have to come back to see it all, of course. Don't be afraid to experience the culture. Make sure you eat a medialuna and have a siesta. If you are American, don't be afraid of the breakfasts, which are really small, with a sugary medialuna and a cup of coffee. It tastes much better if you dip the medialuna in the coffee. That is my advice if you are American. Argentina is a really big country, so my other advice is to explore around Argentina. Up north you have Iguazú Falls, which are the biggest waterfalls in the world. It is absolutely beautiful, bordering Brazil. Further down southwest, in Patagonia, you can go to Bariloche and see the mountains and go skiing if it is that time of year. Further south you can go to Tierra del Fuego and Calafate and see the glaciers. A little bit up north you can see the desert around Salta, or you can go to Las Pampas. There is plenty of that, and the culture there is really fun too. If you are in the university program, don't be afraid to miss a few days. I have missed plenty of days and I still came out on top. I have probably attended more classes than 80 percent of the students there, because the international students are so focused on traveling. The professors are very relaxed about attendance, so don't be afraid to explore when you can. With the university courses, if your Spanish is not too great, I got by fine in the classes with only two months of Spanish beforehand, and I understood most of it. It was still a great experience. As for the two-month Spanish program, the Spanish school is a really cool place. I got to meet plenty of people. It is how I met most of my friends at the beginning, and it is a good way to meet other students from Mente too. The teachers there did a pretty good job teaching me Spanish, and it is a very relaxed environment. You will find that you have a lot of fun. I actually met one of my best friends in Argentina, who works at the Spanish school.

I did the intensive Spanish program, and I did a photography course. Mente accompanied my apartment. They linked me to my roommate. He was really nice. We are really good friends, and we have done a lot of activities with Mente, free lunches or dinners or happy hours or escape rooms, these things. In the beginning, when I couldn't speak any Spanish, they helped me with the bank and with getting a SIM card. It was really helpful, and I had a really good time.

Sean, University of Alabama

United States

I am a junior at the University of Alabama, and I have been studying here in Buenos Aires through Mente Argentina for about six months now, since July. I was doing the university semester program, with coursework in Latin American studies and Spanish. What I really loved about Mente is the freedom it has given me to learn about the city, the culture of Argentina, and the people here in Buenos Aires. I really enjoyed the apartment placement I got. Mente gave me a nice apartment here in the city. I have had really good luck with roommates through the program, and I have really enjoyed that. What I enjoyed most was how I was able to take what Mente offered and turn it into a real learning experience here in Buenos Aires, expand on the coursework I was doing at the university, and make that into something I can take beyond the classroom.

Australia

My name is Hugh. I'm from Australia, and I did a program here with Mente. I did the DJ program and the Spanish program. Basically, both were really good. The DJ program was really professional. I have never done it before, and so it was good to learn how to DJ. They had some of the best equipment you can buy, and the teachers were really skillful and so good. The Spanish program was also good. I had a basis in Spanish for a while, but going to lessons every day, learning, I actually really improved my Spanish. I am not afraid of it now. I also lived in a student residence, shared with other international students, in Palermo. That was really fun, because even though you are studying, you still have lots of time for parties, and one of the big things is the nightlife. Especially around here, there are lots of clubs you can go to every night. It is just really fun, and I recommend it. I definitely recommend the program. It is really good.

While I've been here, I've been doing an intensive Spanish program, Spanish every morning, as well as an internship three days a week, and it's been fantastic. I've loved my time here. The city is amazing. It's just non-stop. It doesn't sleep, and the people are so friendly and accommodating. I would recommend Buenos Aires to anyone who wants a great experience and to meet awesome people. The program with Mente Argentina has been so organized, and the staff have been great, and I would really recommend it to anyone.

Hi, my name is Gil. I'm 23 years old, and I'm from Israel. I was participating in the Mente Argentina program in the last month, and it was the most unbelievable experience of my life. When I first saw the option to combine courses, and to learn Spanish, and all kinds of things, in an international environment such as Buenos Aires, it sounded sometimes too good to be true. When I saw this option to do it with people from all over the world, I knew it was something I wanted to do, but I never imagined how good it would be. Over the last month I took Spanish classes. I took bartender courses, and I combined it with volunteering and worked with children from difficult backgrounds. The whole experience was just great. The volunteering itself was so satisfying, and everything was delivered above my expectation. The personal support we got here is crazy. Everything you need, you can ask for. The staff here is the first to ask you if you need something. They are very kind, and they do a very, very good job, and they are very organized. When you get to a program like that, the fact that you are doing the whole thing with people from all over the world makes everything ten times better. The program makes you meet people from all over, Germany, Europe, everywhere. The fact that there are so many cultures and so many places makes it so great. Social life here is unbelievable. With all of that, the fact that everything is happening in Buenos Aires is the best. It is a great city to meet people and a great place to do all these courses. The social life here, the nightlife here, the food here, the warm people, and everything. The whole experience just motivated me to volunteer in different places, and to travel, and to do programs like that in so many other places. It was just great. I recommend to anyone who has any expectations regarding this program to stop hesitating and come here.

Hi, I'm Alp. I'm from Turkey, and I was with Mente Argentina for two weeks to take Spanish courses, tango courses, and cooking classes. Before I came here, I felt as if two weeks would be a really long time, but now it has not been enough. When I first came here, I realized that it is really important that you know Spanish so that you can really speak with the people. Buenos Aires is a beautiful city. All the barrios, all the places you can go, it is both touristic and really local. I love this city, and I just hope that more people can come here with Mente and continue to enjoy this city and this experience.

I had a really good experience. I was doing an internship at a language exchange company. I went to a lot of our events, and I was doing marketing for them. The people were really amazing, and at the events I met a lot of local people who were able to give me a lot of advice about the city and who were just ready to talk. I had a really good experience with the people. I was also able to do cooking classes and Spanish classes. You can really do whatever activities you want to do, and they help you put it all together. The city itself is beautiful. There are so many parks. You will never be bored. The nightlife is great. Tiring, but great. I was only here for a few months, so I wasn't able to travel extensively throughout the rest of Argentina, but there are so many different day trips you can do. I just have to go back to experience all of it. I really had a good time.

Hi, I'm Bailey Clark. I'm from Denver, Colorado. I was with Mente Argentina for almost five months, doing a medical internship program. I had two different jobs. One was at a hospital, and another was with an NGO. The hospital one was in the city, and the other was just outside the city, and it was great. They were two very different things, and they helped me improve my Spanish a lot, just because I was working with people speaking Spanish every day, and that was kind of the goal of my trip. I enjoyed being with Mente a lot. They help expose you to a lot of things. They take you on lots of trips. We went out to Tigre and went on a river trip out there, and they take you to shows. I went to Fuerza Bruta and La Bomba del Tiempo. It's nice because you get to do all these extra activities, meet people through that, and you get to enjoy a lot of good company. It was a really good experience.

I went to a gallery, also in Recoleta, and I got to see how the art world works in Buenos Aires, which is just really, really different from New York. I also did, for one month, the photography program, which was also very cool. I love Mente, and I highly recommend them to anybody who would like to travel in Argentina. They took care of everything for me, my housing, my paperwork, my well-being, and all of that, and that was wonderful. I really liked that Mente had a lot of events, especially a lot of events with food, which is great if you are a poor student in a city. It is great to get free food. They also do a lot of fun culture activities, and it is a great way to get to know the city and to get to know the other people that you are studying with. I loved the Mente community, how easy it was to talk to people and get to know people. All of the program coordinators were on call most of the time, which was great, and if I ever had a question or a need I could just text them. That felt good. It felt very taken care of. Our apartment was lovely. It was very clean, maintained very well, and there was a lot of space. I highly recommend Mente to any foreign students who want to study here. They take care of everything. At the same time we create our own signature cocktails. In the wine program we learn a lot about Argentine wine history, the industry, and everything about Torrontés, which is world famous. During these four weeks Mente was extremely helpful, and they arranged lots and lots of fun programs and activities for us, so it is packed with activities. I am really glad. I had some experience with Argentina before being part of this program, so I came with a high level of expectation, and I was not disappointed. I really enjoyed the excursions and the social time, but I also had an opportunity to see Argentina as someone who lived here. Before, I had come here on weekends, but when you live someplace you have a very different experience. There was not one detail that was overlooked, and I highly suggest that you come here to Argentina. They just take care of so many of the things that normally you have to deal with and plan yourself when you are traveling and first arriving in a new country. I really appreciated all their help. Someone picked me up from the airport and took me to the apartment that Mente had for me, and then someone met me at the apartment, showed me how the subway worked, got me a SIM card, helped me change cash, just literally everything I needed. It showed me the basics of how the city worked. The Spanish classes were really great. They really helped me learn a lot more about the city and helped me integrate much more quickly. The Mente events every week were always a lot of fun. It was amazing how much they included in the price. It really made it feel like it was worth it. I feel like I was able to see so much more of Buenos Aires than I would have been able to on my own. Normally when you travel by yourself, there are always these little things that come up, inconveniences where you spend money you don't expect to, and Mente really helps you not run into that situation, because they show you the best way to go about doing things, and where the best places are to eat, and the best weekend trips, and just everything. I highly recommend them. They were super organized, super responsive, and just a lot of fun. Best of both worlds.

I think I lived with five different people throughout the time, and everyone was incredibly kind and gracious. Things we did included activities like the Argentine Experience. It was a lot of fun, and it's a great way to meet some of the people in town. The city itself was incredibly friendly, from the taxi drivers to people at restaurants. Going out to bars and clubs, it's really easy to get along and meet other people. I just want to say thank you for all the things that this program afforded me. All the people were incredibly gracious and incredibly nice. I couldn't really ask for anything more.

Barbara

I'm Barbara. I'm 24 years old, and I'm from Lisbon, Portugal. I was here in Buenos Aires doing the intensive Spanish program for a month, and it was very useful for me to come with Mente Argentina because I was coming all by myself. I really wanted to have an experience in South America, so I started searching for programs, and this was the only program I really felt comfortable going with. From the first day I got here, when I arrived at the residence, I was living with 15 people, so I had friends from the first hour, and it was a very comfortable stay. From the organization, everything was really organized even before I got here, so I had all the details well set out. When I got here I started classes, and the school was really nice. Apart from that, Buenos Aires just has a really big dynamic. It's a city with a lot of things to do and a lot of places to see. In one month I can say that I still had things left to see in Buenos Aires, but it was very intense. We made the most of it. The Mente events were also very useful for getting to know the city. I would definitely recommend it to someone who is looking for a valuable experience in a different country, in a very organized way.

Felizia, University of Bern

Switzerland

I'm Felizia from Switzerland. I was here for eight weeks at a language school learning Spanish. It was an amazing time. In those eight weeks I had so many things that were new for me, and that was amazing. I came here with no Spanish at all, and I decided to do this program on quite short notice, and everything worked out fine. I'm very thankful to Mente Argentina that they organized my room and my school, and everything went very smoothly. What was also very nice was seeing all these new people from all over the world, not least because of Mente Argentina, since they organized all these gatherings we could come to. Argentina is fun. You eat so well here. Don't miss the best ever. I hope you enjoy your stay if you're coming as well.

Allison, Indiana University - Purdue University Fort Wayne

United States

My name is Allison. I am here with Mente Argentina doing the intensive Spanish program. I picked a four-week program, and it has been an absolute blast, from the moment we got picked up at the airport and taken to our host mom's house. We ended up staying with a local, and she's been wonderful too. There are tons of weekly activities planned every week for Mente students, and most of them, if not all of them, are already paid for. We've been really impressed with how much support we've had from Mente, especially considering how affordable the program was. We thought it would be a really basic outline of what a program could be, just that they'd be there if we needed anything, but they've been active in making sure they're here for us every step of the way. It's definitely been a blast. We depart this Sunday, so we're really sad to be leaving, but we're really happy that we came here with Mente, and I would highly recommend it for anybody who's considering spending a semester, or just a month, or however long here in Buenos Aires.

Emanuelle

Italy

Hello, my name is Emmanuel. I'm 28 years old, and I'm from Italy. I spent the last month in Buenos Aires with Mente, doing two activities, an intensive Spanish course and a DJ course. I will start with the first one. I had a great time during the Spanish course. I had never studied Spanish before, and from Italian it wasn't too difficult to get the basics going. The school that I got through Mente was really good, in a really nice atmosphere, and it was really a pleasure taking Spanish classes there. Then, the DJ course. It was a bit more of a peculiar choice. I had no expectations, really, because I don't know what a DJ course would be like, but it ended up being a lot of fun. I have been thinking about doing a DJ course for many years, and now I figured I had the time, and it turned out to be fun. I feel like in just a few classes I got the basics that I need to practice once I go back home, so I would definitely recommend it. In general, Mente made it very easy to get settled in Buenos Aires. It was a very plug-and-play way of getting here. Buenos Aires is a beautiful city, and there is always something to do, any day, any night. I would absolutely recommend coming to Buenos Aires. It is a great place to learn Spanish, because the people here are very friendly and very welcoming, and that makes it very easy to find someone to practice the language with. I would gladly come back. I hope this can be useful to you if you are watching. Thank you.

Mona

United States

My name is Mona. I'm from New Jersey, in the United States. I came here for a little bit over a week. I came mainly to study Spanish. I took a five-day Spanish class through the Mente Argentina program, and I also came to tour around the city between Christmas and New Year's. I totally recommend, if you want to come to Buenos Aires, that you stay for over a week, at least two weeks. I think two weeks is more than enough, but not less than that, because now I'm sad I'm going back home and I'm not happy. But it is what it is. Also, I recommend that whatever you plan to do here in the city, or in Argentina in general, you reach out to a Mente Argentina representative and tell them what you plan to do and what kind of excursions you want. They helped me a lot. Every time I had a question, I'd email David or any other representative, and they answered very quickly, by email and by text. They had a lot of good ideas for me and sent me a lot of helpful links. It's very important that you reach out to a representative, because if you're in a new country, you don't know where to go and you don't know what to do. You really need someone to help you. I also liked that they were very helpful in arranging an apartment. The apartment is very convenient, very close to the subway station, within about a five- or seven-minute walk. I love everything and I just don't want to leave, but I have to go back home. So that's it.

Blake

United States

My name is Blake, and I'm from the US. I was a participant with Mente Argentina for about two months. Right now, as I'm giving this interview, I am on a gap year between high school and college. I decided to take my gap year because I wanted to travel the world a little bit more and maybe work on my Spanish. I did a program in the fall in Asia, and afterwards I didn't really have any plans, so my friends and I decided to travel in South America. We spent a little time in Bolivia and Chile, and then I decided that I just wanted to settle down a little bit and spend more time in a city like Buenos Aires and practice my Spanish. Over the internet I found Mente Argentina, and I was communicating with Marcelo and David, and it was a super simple process. I had no knowledge about Buenos Aires, or how to navigate the process, or how to find a homestay or a place to live, or a Spanish school to study at. Mente Argentina was super helpful with all of those things. They were a great intermediary. Through them I was able to find the Spanish school, which has been such an amazing time. I've gotten to meet so many cool people from all over the world, and my Spanish has gotten so much better in only a few weeks. When I got here, I had basically spoken no Spanish, even though I had taken Spanish class for my entire life, which is the experience of a lot of people in the US. Through my time here I've been able to have conversations with Argentines, and it's been such an awesome opportunity, and I'm so grateful for that. Mente was also an awesome opportunity because, during my time in my apartment, I was able to have conversations with my host mom and learn more about Argentina, the porteño lifestyle, and the history of Argentina. That's been such an integral part of my time here in Buenos Aires, and I'm so grateful to Mente for both of those opportunities. While I was here I was also able to connect with so many different people from all over the world, from Italy, Holland, the US, Britain, other parts of Europe, and South America, and that was all because of Mente. It created an amazing network. I was able to go to events, free events, where we could drink and eat and play games and do all different kinds of things, and see different parts of the city. Without Mente I wouldn't have been able to see them, just because I didn't know about them. We were able to learn a lot about the city from some of the people who work here, who might be foreigners but have spent a lot of time in Buenos Aires and have a really cool perspective on the city, and they were able to teach us a lot about it. I'm so grateful for Mente and everything they were able to provide during my time here. It was unforgettable, and I would definitely recommend joining them.

My name is Brandon. I'm from the United States, and I'm here doing the intensive Spanish program with Mente Argentina. It's been a blast so far. Buenos Aires is awesome. There's so much to do, and the Mente staff have been awesome at coordinating events for us, or reimbursing events. If you want to take a trip outside of the city a little bit, they'll help you plan that, and they might even reimburse you for some of those events. The school they set you up with is awesome. We've learned so much Spanish, and it's super personalized when you're here, so that part has been awesome as well. I'm super sad that my time is coming to an end, but I've had so much fun here in Buenos Aires, and I would highly recommend that anyone do a program with Mente Argentina.

Kewin, University of Lausanne

Switzerland

My name is Kewin, and I came here with Mente Argentina. My experience was great. I love Argentina. I stayed here for three months. I was part of the university program, but then I changed to the Spanish program. I strongly recommend this school, because the teachers were awesome and the staff is super cool. If you want to study here in Argentina to learn Spanish really fast, and good Spanish, you will learn more than Spanish. The accommodation was great. I lived in a super safe and nice neighborhood with bars and night activities. Being with Mente was great, especially the staff, because I was in contact with them. If I needed anything, I could call them in whatever situation and they would try to arrange it. For instance, I needed to receive some stuff from my home country, and they sent me the address in a short amount of time. In any situation they will help you really fast, because trust is something really important in Argentina.

Chiara

I have been doing programs in Argentina. I have been doing Spanish, doing volunteer work, and just exploring the city. I did Spanish classes for the first three weeks. They were very small, so we were able to learn, and we also spoke a lot. That was really good for Spanish, and especially for me to refresh everything I knew. After these three weeks I felt ready to continue without the Spanish lessons. This was also because of my volunteer program, which I also really liked. In my volunteer program I have been organizing many events, and I have done this with other people from South America, which was also really great again for the Spanish, because you are really in an immersion setting. I have really enjoyed doing this. I have been able to meet a lot of people through this volunteering as well. We have also gone to a lot of places. We have gone bowling. I also had a dance night. My favorite activity was going to a really beautiful place nearby. I also got there by bus from Palermo, and I think that was one of my favorite places here in Buenos Aires. For the rest, I really enjoyed the city in general. I really liked the vibe, and the fact that there is life every second of the day, and that there is also a really impressive nightlife. The public transportation, in my opinion, was really well organized. I have mainly taken the subway. I have used the colectivos, the buses, a bit less, because I haven't really figured out yet exactly how they work, but I definitely recommend them. I also recommend walking, because it is a great way to explore the city. I have also really enjoyed the food here. Especially the sweets are really good. The people are also really friendly, and they are always willing to help me further with my Spanish. In general it has just been a really cool experience. I am a bit sad that I am only staying for five weeks, but I am definitely planning on coming back very soon, so that I can explore more of the city, perhaps even more of Argentina.

Geraldine

Ireland

My name is Geraldine, and I'm very glad to say that I've spent four weeks here with Mente Argentina in Buenos Aires, and it's been fantastic. The most important thing for me about Mente Argentina was that they picked me up at the airport. They welcomed me, and they had an apartment ready for me when I got here, with various supplies. Then I was able to do Spanish classes and take my time, but I always had them to call if there was an emergency, or even if I just wanted a question answered about the subway and how things worked. I can't recommend it enough. It's a really easy way to come to a new city, and it's great because you meet loads of like-minded people who are interested in discovering things, and you have instant friends. It's a big thumbs up for Mente Argentina, and honestly I would do it again.

I'm so glad I ended up in Buenos Aires with Mente Argentina. They've been awesome, getting me from the airport to my homestay, with the best host mom I could have ever asked for. The classes I attend are really beneficial and are helping me improve my language as well. I highly recommend Mente Argentina in Buenos Aires.

I recently spent six weeks in Buenos Aires with Mente Argentina. I went to take Spanish classes, and the classes were really great, really interactive, and really engaging. I'm really happy with how my Spanish improved. Mente Argentina were also fantastic. They set up a lot of tours and activities for me, and they took the whole group out for meals and other really cool things around the city, which I really enjoyed. The group itself was also really neat, a lot of really cool people from around the world that I'm so lucky to have met through Mente Argentina. The staff were so helpful. They set me up right away with a SIM card, a transit pass, and currency information, and then throughout the whole trip they were always making sure that I was comfortable, that I was having a great time, and that I knew what was going on around the city. Overall, I'm so thankful to have been there with Mente Argentina, and I can't wait to visit again.

My name is Savanna, and I'm from Louisville, Kentucky. I go to university, and I'm majoring in Spanish. I came to Buenos Aires through Mente Argentina because it was very highly recommended by my advisers at my school, and I'm super happy I did. Throughout the two months I've been here volunteering, they've stayed connected with me the whole way. There are always events you can go to on their Facebook, and they are more than happy to answer any questions you have. More than anything, I wanted to practice the language, castellano, and I already knew Spanish pretty well. The volunteering program was also super awesome, because I was able to work with kids and people outside of everyday city life, so I saw a completely different side of the city that you usually wouldn't get to see. I'm very happy I came through Mente Argentina, and they've been with me every step of the way. I've gotten to know several different areas in Buenos Aires, and I'll tell you, it's a good place to come to.

Frequently Asked Questions

About the Program

The Intensive Spanish Program includes 20 hours of group Spanish per week, Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, for every level from beginner to advanced.

That gives you a consistent morning immersion schedule while leaving afternoons and evenings free for Buenos Aires, Included Buenos Aires Experiences or another compatible program.

All levels are welcome, from complete beginner to advanced. Before classes begin, we assess your Spanish and place you in the group that best matches your current level.

If you are an absolute beginner, you can start from zero; you do not need previous Spanish study.

Yes, unless you are a complete beginner. You can complete Mente Argentina's Spanish Level Test online before you arrive, or we can arrange your placement when you get to Buenos Aires. The goal is to put you in a class that is challenging without being overwhelming.

Yes. The Intensive Spanish Program starts every Monday throughout the year and accepts students from beginner through advanced levels. That makes it one of the most flexible ways to study Spanish in Buenos Aires.

Yes. If you arrange the academic-credit pathway before your program begins, Mente Argentina's Intensive Spanish Program can include an official university transcript from Universidad Abierta Interamericana (UAI) at no additional cost because the program is officially accredited by UAI.

Your home university makes the final decision about how the credit transfers, so pre-approval is recommended if the credits need to count toward your degree. Mente can provide syllabi, course information and supporting documentation for that review.

Yes. You can add private Spanish for extra one-to-one practice or combine Intensive Spanish with programs such as Tango, Cooking, Wine, Photography, Internship or Volunteer. We coordinate compatible schedules and you can mix durations—for example, four weeks of Spanish with a two-week Short Program.

Yes. You will learn standard Spanish while studying and living in Buenos Aires, so you will also become familiar with Rioplatense Spanish—the vocabulary, pronunciation and everyday expressions used in Argentina. Your classes still develop Spanish that you can use across the Spanish-speaking world.

Booking and Payments

Booking is simple. Create your Mente Argentina account, complete the basic application with your preferred dates and program details, and pay the Registration Fee to secure your place.

You do not need to have every flight, document or accommodation detail finalized on day one. You can update your application as those details become available.

Most Mente Argentina programs do not have one universal application deadline, but places are first come, first served and availability can become limited, especially for accommodation and small-group programs.

If you already know when you would like to come, applying early gives you the best choice. If your preferred start date is close, contact us and we will tell you what is still possible.

The Registration Fee is the one-time payment that confirms your place with Mente Argentina and starts the enrollment process. You pay it once, even if you combine more than one Mente program.

Your Registration Fee remains valid for two years from the date it was originally paid. Within that period, you can postpone your program, change dates, switch programs or return to Mente Argentina without paying a new Registration Fee.

Yes. You can combine up to three compatible Mente Argentina programs during the same weeks, and we coordinate the schedules to avoid conflicts. Two simultaneous programs is the most common combination.

If you want to do four or more experiences, the best approach is usually to spread them across different weeks—for example, two programs during the first part of your stay and two different programs later. You can also mix durations, such as four weeks of Spanish with a two-week Tango or Cooking Program.

Usually, yes. Extensions are possible subject to space in your program and accommodation.

If you think you may want to stay longer, tell us as early as possible; around three weeks' notice gives us a better chance of keeping everything continuous. You do not need to decide before you arrive.

Planning Your Stay

Yes. International and domestic flights are not included in the program fee, so you book your own travel to Buenos Aires.

If your on-site package includes Mente Argentina accommodation, arrival and departure transfers are included at no extra charge from either Ezeiza International Airport (EZE) or Aeroparque (AEP). Send us your flight details once they are confirmed; you can secure your program before buying your flights.

Mente Argentina offers accommodation in popular Buenos Aires neighborhoods such as Palermo, Belgrano, Barrio Norte and Recoleta. Depending on the program, you can choose a shared apartment with a private room, student residence, homestay or private apartment.

Wi-Fi, utilities and weekly cleaning service are included at no extra cost in every Mente Argentina accommodation type. Homestay meals are not included by default; participants can add them. Other options include a kitchen so you can cook. Common spaces vary by housing type.

Yes. If you already have a place to stay in Buenos Aires, ask us for the program-only option.

Our standard packages are designed to make the whole experience easy, but you do not need to pay for accommodation you already have arranged.

It depends on your nationality, length of stay and program. Many participants can enter Argentina without arranging a visa in advance, while longer academic programs or some nationalities require additional immigration documentation.

Mente Argentina is registered with RENURE and can provide the documentation and guidance required for eligible student-residence or visa processes. Check the current Visa Information page or contact us with your nationality and program length before making immigration decisions.

Yes. Current Argentine migration rules require foreign entrants to declare that they have valid health insurance for their stay.

We recommend a travel policy that includes medical coverage for your full time in Argentina and, ideally, protection for cancellations, delays and luggage as well. You may choose any provider that gives you appropriate coverage in Argentina.

You will have a local Mente Argentina team in Buenos Aires throughout your program, including arrival orientation and 24/7 support for unexpected situations.

All on-site participants also receive the same core Mente benefits: a local SIM, SUBE public-transport card, gym access, access to Mente Argentina's exclusive Palermo Soho space and terrace, the participant WhatsApp community, and a rotating calendar of Included Buenos Aires Experiences.

Our team is based locally, so support is not just a phone number. You can reach us for practical questions, local recommendations, program coordination or help if something unexpected happens.

Your on-site program includes a rotating calendar of curated social, cultural and local experiences in Buenos Aires, with tickets and participation included at no extra cost.

Depending on the week, these can include theater performances, football experiences, guided neighborhood or city tours, bike tours, museum visits, Argentine barbecues, dinners, food events, happy hours and other paid activities around the city.

These are organized experiences designed to help you discover Buenos Aires, meet other participants and become part of the Mente Argentina community—not simply a list of free things to do.
