Internships in Buenos Aires, Argentina

Hi, I'm Emily. I'm from Boston. I did the internship program through Mente and it was a photography internship. She's a photographer that does big commercial work, but also she's an artist, and I was able to help behind the scenes and work with computers and work with post-production. And it was really, really helpful for me to learn. I learned a lot of things because none of the people in the studio spoke English. I met a lot of locals who helped me with Spanish as well. And Mente hosted a lot of great programs that connected you with locals and helped you to see the city in different ways. So yeah, I highly recommend it.

I am Jana. I'm from Germany, and I did an internship program with Mente Argentina. I was working with a child population, street children, and also with older people. It was really nice. I could do a lot of things with the boys, especially the street children, and I had the opportunity to accompany a psychologist. I also study psychology, so that was really good for my professional path. At the house of the school I was able to come with a psychologist, and he worked with the boys, doing the interviews when they came in to find out where they came from and what the situation of the family was like. So basically we were preparing them for what was going to happen next to them, how to deal with baby problems, all kinds of things like that. My accommodation was really, really great. I never expected anything that nice. I was living in Palermo in a shared house. The house was really nice. Everyone had their own bathroom and a shared kitchen, really nice. And Palermo was also a really good area with a lot of supermarkets, a lot of shops, and the bus stations and subway stations were very close and very safe. You could walk around during the night alone without any problems. They were really good. I went to Tigre on my first day, which was really, really nice, getting to know the area and meeting some people, some company to move around. Also, whenever there was any problem, I could call someone. It was really good to have someone here. Buenos Aires is a great city. I love the whole city. It's so interesting whenever you go to another barrio. It looks completely different. The people are very nice. When you just go to a shop or you sit in a taxi, everyone is always talking to you, and you meet so many different people and get to know so many different stories.

Hey, so I'm Danielle. I'm from Orlando, Florida. I go to IU, and I did the internship program here. I'm studying international relations, and I worked at an organization that worked with lots of different non-governmental organizations to help with political and economic development here in Argentina. It was really great to do it through Mente, because a lot of people know it's hard to know where to start with finding internships, especially abroad. Buenos Aires is obviously just an amazing city. Especially for being in South America, it's pretty safe, and people are great, the food's great, so no complaints there. Overall it was just a really great experience, and Mente kind of helped you get adjusted and with housing and everything. You just didn't have to worry about being in a foreign country by yourself, because they were there to help you out. So yeah, it was great.

Hi, my name is Cynthia Chan. I'm from Shanghai, China. I go to school at Northwestern, and I came to Buenos Aires to do an internship at a tech startup. When I was here, I've done a lot of fun things with Mente. I'm really glad that we got paired with Mente to do a lot of activities. I got to play football for the first time ever. I was a goalie, and that was really fun. In addition, I really love Fuerza Bruta.

Hi, my name is Catherine Bright. I just completed a four-week internship here with Mente Argentina, working in social media for a club here in Buenos Aires and also for a network of luxury apartments based in South America. From everybody that I've met at work to just experiencing living in an apartment with everybody and experiencing all the sights and the nightlife, it was a great experience, and to be able to do it in a Spanish-speaking country as well was excellent. I really enjoyed my time at the internship as well. I definitely recommend Mente. They've been a great help throughout the whole process. They organized my internship very quickly, which was excellent, and there's just that ongoing support the whole time. To anyone considering doing an internship, I definitely recommend it. Something you won't regret.

Hi, I'm John. I'm from Northwestern University. I had a great experience here. I loved Buenos Aires. It's a great city, great culture, great food. I was working here for eight weeks in a startup. Being here with Mente made this experience way better. They made a lot of trips for us, a lot of activities that were awesome. Fuerza Bruta was really good. I really loved it. I recommend it to everyone.

My name is Erin, and I'm from Louisville, Kentucky, and I go to Western Kentucky University. I participated in a six-week-long internship program, and I worked for an NGO. My favorite part was that I've always wanted to work for an NGO, and I was super thrilled to have the experience while I was still in college. I was able to get the hands-on experience working in a villa, a shanty town of Buenos Aires, helping kids at school, helping them make sure they stay focused and get individualized attention. I also got to have the office experience, working with the fundraising aspects, donation aspects, campaigning, and all that kind of stuff. So I really got to see both sides and how the NGO operates and how it works to achieve its goals in Buenos Aires. And I think my favorite part was how much Spanish I was able to speak, speaking Spanish every single day, and I'm leaving Buenos Aires this time completely confident in my language skills. I'm really excited to see where my language skills and where this experience will take me as far as where I go next, what I do next, and how it will influence me. I had an amazing time.

Hi, I'm Thomas. I'm from Chicago. I've been here for eight weeks, and I had a great time, mostly thanks to Mente, with a lot of events on the plan. Especially my favorite was everything with the Argentine Experience, like the wine tasting and the empanada-making classes. I just love those. There are so many things that I didn't expect to be able to experience, because I came here to do an internship, but I had a great time thanks to Mente.

Hi, I'm Claire Peterson. I did the Mente internship program, and I lived in the shared apartment with three other girls in Recoleta. I really liked living in Recoleta, because it was really safe. We felt really comfortable walking around, and we got to know all the bus systems and stuff. There's fun places to go out around here. And I'd probably say that one of my favorite things about Mente Argentina was all the excursions that they helped promote. A lot of my friends that came here didn't really know what to do, but Mente was helping so much with all of the things that you do during the week. La Bomba was really fun, and the Tigre excursion. My favorite, I think, was the polo. We went out for the day, and we played polo and watched polo, and then had an asado and learned to play and ride horses, and it was really fun, and we got to get out of the city for a day. I really just love the energy of Buenos Aires. I'm from Colorado. I've never lived in a big city, and there's just so much to do here. So many fun places to go to, so many different barrios with different personalities, and lots of stuff to explore during the day and the night. And we went to Iguazú, which was really fun too. Beautiful, one of the most amazing things you could do. If I could change anything, I wish I had more time so that I could travel around. I really want to go to the salt flats and Patagonia and Mendoza, because the wine here is really good. But I loved Buenos Aires, and we made so many good friends, and I'm going to miss everybody. And I got the opportunity to learn about NGOs. I never worked for an NGO before, and it was very insightful into their process of how they do things, and way different than I ever expected. I had a big photographer here, and I got to do publicity for her. I really liked the company, because we all got to eat lunch together. We would take an hour, an hour and a half out of the day and just sit down in the kitchen and talk, and that's probably when I got my most Spanish practice. I just sit there and listen to everybody and talk when I could. And it was really fun. But my biggest recommendation is to meet more locals, because it's really easy to fall into the habit of hanging out with Mente friends that only speak English and meeting people at bars and stuff that only speak English. But some of my favorite experiences have just been meeting random people and just having random Spanish conversations, and you also get a local perspective. But yeah, I loved my time here. I wish I could stay longer.

Hi, my name is Whitney Bradford. I'm doing Mente Argentina for the 10-week internship program. While here, I was working with a nonprofit organization that helps kids and elderly that live in the streets, and I really enjoyed it, because I got to be a part of both aspects: on the office side, working with fundraising, and on the personal side, working with the kids and elderly. Mente did a really great job placing me in a program that was very specific to me, and they incorporated things that I had already done in my background that I didn't even ask for, which was perfect. Living here, I chose to stay with a host family, and they put me in one of the nicest areas in Buenos Aires, in Recoleta, and it's a gorgeous area, and I was close to other Mente people, so I was able to form strong bonds and friendships. As the activities go, Mente offers really great activities. I think you should take advantage of all of them, because for some of them they're free, and they really let you see the culture and experience it, and the activities range from dinners to concerts to polo games in the countryside. And there's a lot of things that you can do, and the country itself offers so many different activities, like Iguazú or Ushuaia. I would say come here with an open mind, because the city is like no other city, and it's a culture very different, and it's fun and offers so many things, but you have to be willing to let yourself be immersed, and the Spanish here is different. I interned at a law firm for a month, which is really cool. The people are so nice. The accommodation is amazing. I was in a huge house with loads of other students. Everything is great with the accommodation. Mente is good at organizing loads of trips and stuff, like a boat trip, which is really cool, and you can go to the zoo. That's really cool. I love Buenos Aires. It's a great city. I'd just go on as many of the events in this office as possible, because most of them are free, and you meet loads of other people. It's a great way to meet other students.

Hi, my name is Dara Kolahi. I'm from California, the United States. When I came to Argentina, I wanted to do it in a way that I could find a lot of good people and do cool things. And especially since I didn't know exactly what to do, having a little help, having people that were close to our age helping us out with everything, made the experience so much better. And I found exactly the program that was specific for me, and I couldn't have asked for a better transition into Buenos Aires.

Hi, my name is Ishmael Perez. I'm from Greensboro, North Carolina, in the United States of America. And my program is the internship in film and photography. I came here in Argentina wanting to do something great, and it helps me with my career in animation. I helped out with a promotional video, and that re-enhanced my skills so that way I can be useful in the future for bigger projects. But my experience in Argentina has been so great, because it's my second time here, from November to January. It's such a wonderful experience being here in Argentina. And I think that this country has that power to bring people together from Brazil to France, even as far as Angola. And I love the coordinators that have been providing us with not only the humor and the protection of the participants, but also the safety and the nice spirit of what it means to be in Argentina, that you can be as adventurous and also knowing that you're with people that have the same and different experiences. And that's all mixed into a country where I believe that has one of the best Spanishes in the Spanish-speaking world. Because except for high school, I wasn't really utilizing another language as far as Spanish. But now that's my second time using castellano constantly, and I get enticed when I use it, and it's just so empowering, and I want to keep on using it. I don't want to forget it. That's why I had to come back here the second time. I felt that the first time was not enough for me, because I wasn't using the language as much as I needed to. I was slowly using my ability to speak Spanish, but now I can, and it brought me the confidence that I needed to just push forward. And the experiences helped me realize that I can do that in Argentina. I thank you so much for my second time here.

My name's Gabriel, and I've just completed the Mente internship program. It was a lovely opportunity for me. Mente made it very easy for me to get accommodated in the city. They were a great support system for an otherwise fairly insulated traveler. My experience with the internship was only positive. It was a good learning experience for me in terms of the human rights network here in Argentina. I got good experience working with grant research and trying to network with other NGOs to provide a better system for human rights here in Argentina and abroad. My Spanish improved noticeably. With all the programs that Mente had, it made it much easier. I went on an excursion with Mente to Tigre, which was a great suburb outside of the city. Beautiful. I hope to be back very soon. Mente did a great job helping me get comfortable here in Argentina. My favorite thing about Buenos Aires is probably the structure of the city itself, the parks, the different neighborhoods. It's such a cosmopolitan city. There's so much to see. I spent most of my time lost and wandering around the streets, and I really couldn't have asked for a better place to be lost in. It's a wonderful city.

I volunteered at a hospital here at Hospital de Clínicas, and I worked in pediatrics, and I played with kids and helped them with any other needs, or their parents. I had a really great supervisor who helped answer any questions I had, but while I was there I also got to interview a lot of parents, kids, doctors, nurses, and learn about the healthcare system here, which was really interesting to compare it to the United States, because their healthcare systems are really different. So that really helped me get a more worldly view of how medicine is practiced in other countries, and I'm applying to medical school, so that really helped me for my interviews and writing, because I have all this great experience of what the healthcare system is like here and how hospitals function and the pros and cons of the two systems. I really enjoyed being in Buenos Aires. There are a lot of fun things to do for people my age, a lot of great nightlife. There's bars and clubs, but there's also nice restaurants. There's a lot of great touristy spots. I really recommend going to the Recoleta Cemetery and the San Telmo Market, which is on Sundays. If you get a chance, go to Uruguay. It's really close by, really cheap. There's a lot of cool things you can see there, so it's cool to get another stamp on your passport. Try to go to the interior of Argentina so you can see gaucho life and riding horses. Go see a polo game. See a soccer game, or at least tour the soccer stadium. That was really cool. It's really big here. The food here is amazing. Try everything new, because it's all really good. All the pastries, called facturas, they're really cheap. I highly recommend it. Also the parrillas with all the different kinds of meats, and they're really cheap and so delicious. You can't get anything like that in the United States. I went to a great restaurant called Siga la Vaca in Puerto Madero. You should definitely go there and check it out. All you can eat meat and salad and wine. It's great wine here too. Try all the different kinds, because it's really cheap and made local in Argentina. Mente Argentina did a great job of organizing events so I could meet other participants, which really changed my program, because even when we weren't at Mente events, I still hung out with the friends I made there. If you get the chance, go with Mente Argentina to Spanglish. It's a great chance to meet locals. You speak for five minutes in Spanish and five minutes in English, and then you switch tables and meet new people. It was a great way to not only meet locals but also I met English speakers from around the world. If you get the chance to meet locals and hang out with them again, I highly recommend that. They're really cool. They could show you the best parts of town. But you make a lot of great friends through Mente Argentina too that you can hang out with. The best part of Mente was the people I met through it, both the participants and the staff. They're really supportive. They're there whenever you need them. If you need help organizing a trip that isn't on the calendar, just let them know and they'll help you do it. If you get the chance, go on the graffiti tour. You learn so much about the street art scene of Buenos Aires, and it gives you a whole new appreciation of street art and graffiti, and Mente helps organize all that for you, so it's free, and it is an excellent tour, probably one of my favorites here. And then my Spanish improved. I definitely picked up more of the local slang and the pronunciation that they use here, which is different from other countries of South America. But I do wish I took a Spanish class, because I think that a lot of Argentinians know English and they prefer to speak to me in English when they hear I'm an English speaker, because they like to get their practice too. So I don't think I got as much exposure to it as I thought I would, so maybe taking a Spanish class would have helped me. But I still think I improved, and a lot of people complimented me that my Spanish was pretty good. So that made me feel good. I should say about my roommates. I lived in a shared apartment, and it was a great idea. I have amazing roommates from all around the world, all over Europe. It has been a great way to make friends. And my apartment was really nice, and I lived near other Mente participants, so we could meet up to go out beforehand. And it was a great meeting spot for all of us, especially some students who were living with a host family, so they didn't want to invite people there. So it was really great to have a shared apartment. I had the freedom to invite some friends over here, and it was a great location. The owner of the apartment was really nice. If I have advice for incoming Mente participants: every day do something new, do something exciting. If it's raining, go to a museum. Go to the horse racing track. Try something new. Don't stay in, because you're in Buenos Aires and you want to experience and enjoy an amazing new city.

Hola. My name is Esteban. I did a five-and-a-half-month program here with Mente Argentina. Studying international business and management, I have to do an internship and my bachelor thesis abroad. I decided to do my thesis here in Buenos Aires. And Mente Argentina got me hooked up with a really cool company that helped me along the way, and the supervision was really good. Besides that, Mente Argentina just really made the stay here in Buenos Aires awesome by different tours every week, every weekend. They helped you with the first step to socialize, to meet a group of people, and after that the networking is really easy down here in Buenos Aires. I mean, the city is great, and if you're thinking of coming over, definitely do. There is something different every week, and you know, once-in-a-lifetime experience.

I came here to do work for an NGO and also do a yoga course, which is really cool. Everyone was really nice and open, and my yoga teacher was really cool. I learned a lot of new things. I got to meet a lot of different people. I went to a villa, which I particularly enjoyed. It is quite a poor area, but it is really interesting to go there. My favorite part of Buenos Aires is the different gardens, the Japanese gardens, and there is a lot of beautiful scenery and nature. There are also a lot of cool bars, and everyone is really friendly and nice. I learned a lot of Spanish.

Hi, my name is Linnea, and I'm originally from Washington State, but I have been living in California. I actually studied abroad in Buenos Aires previously. There was a study abroad program, and I loved the city, so I wanted to come back. I am between my undergrad and graduate school. It was a lot worse with my Spanish, so it was really good to jump into the Spanish classes when I first got here. I have been improving my Spanish a lot. I also went to a conversation club in a cafe and practiced Spanish. That was really helpful for my Spanish also. I just had a really good time in the city. I love the parks. I like to go running in the parks and walking along the lakes and things like that. The city has great restaurants, great nightlife, and the people are super friendly. Whenever I get lost or have problems on the street, someone is always there to help me. I have had a really great time in Buenos Aires, and I would definitely recommend Mente, and you should definitely come visit Argentina.

Hey guys, I'm Gautam. I just finished the Mente Argentina program. This is my last day, which is kind of sad, but I want to tell you a little bit about my experience here. I got here a month and a half ago, and Mente has been amazing at introducing me to a second language and hooking me up with a great internship at a hospital. The work I was involved in was pediatrics. It's a great experience for people who are in college, or maybe after college, who want to gain experience in another country. I also did the Spanish study abroad program, the intensive program, which is amazing. You're in a class for four hours a day and you learn Spanish. One of the big things for me has always been learning a second language. I've been taking classes in high school and in college, but I've never been able to grasp Spanish. Coming to Buenos Aires, you're just immersed in the culture, and you really learn Spanish at a very high level and very rapidly. Another thing I'm happy about is that Mente hooks us up with cell phones that we use here. They take care of the ride to the airport and back. All these small things that you don't think of before planning a trip, they take care of for you. I also wanted to visit Mendoza, which is the wine country in Argentina, and they planned it all out for me, told me how to do it, and found the safest way. It's a little scary traveling to another country, maybe for the first time, and for me it was my first time in South America. I was happy that somebody guided me along the way, showed me the best places to go, the best places to eat in Buenos Aires, and the safe areas to shop. Hey, my name is Mac. I did four months abroad with Mente Argentina. It was a great time. When you get there, you get a SUBE card, a SIM card, and cash, so you're ready to go. You also have a place to stay that they set up. They connect you with whatever internship you'd like. I got an internship with an event planning company, so I got to plan events for international students, learn how to bring people together, do some social media stuff, and I met people from all around the world and made some lasting connections. About three months in, I asked if I could do a little something more, because I wanted to do something else, and they connected me with an orphanage. I got to volunteer at an orphanage about three days a week. It was a super awesome experience. I got to work with kids, which I really enjoy doing, and it was a super eye-opening and interesting experience. They also have weekly events where they pay for your dinner and they pay for what you want to do. You go out and have a good time, and multiple times through the week they have partnerships with places all around Argentina, so you can go to an event every single night if you'd like. Through Mente you'll meet a ton of people. You'll have a great time.

Mente took me on some really nice tours, which allowed me to get to know a lot of really cool people, so I always had something to do here. I really love Argentina, and I am going to miss it so much, and I am pretty sure I am going to return sometime.

Hi guys, my name is Andrea. I'm from Australia, and I've been in Buenos Aires for four weeks with the Mente Argentina program. While I've been here, I've been doing an intensive Spanish program, Spanish every morning, as well as an internship three days a week, and it's been fantastic. I've loved my time here. The city is amazing. It's just non-stop. It doesn't sleep, and the people are so friendly and accommodating. I would recommend Buenos Aires to anyone who wants a great experience and to meet awesome people. The program with Mente Argentina has been so organized, and the staff have been great, and I would really recommend it to anyone.

I had a really good experience. I was doing an internship at a language exchange company. I went to a lot of our events, and I was doing marketing for them. The people were really amazing, and at the events I met a lot of local people who were able to give me a lot of advice about the city and who were just ready to talk. I had a really good experience with the people. I was also able to do cooking classes and Spanish classes. You can really do whatever activities you want to do, and they help you put it all together. The city itself is beautiful. There are so many parks. You will never be bored. The nightlife is great. Tiring, but great. I was only here for a few months, so I wasn't able to travel extensively throughout the rest of Argentina, but there are so many different day trips you can do. I just have to go back to experience all of it. I really had a good time.

Hi, I'm Bailey Clark. I'm from Denver, Colorado. I was with Mente Argentina for almost five months, doing a medical internship program. I had two different jobs. One was at a hospital, and another was with an NGO. The hospital one was in the city, and the other was just outside the city, and it was great. They were two very different things, and they helped me improve my Spanish a lot, just because I was working with people speaking Spanish every day, and that was kind of the goal of my trip. I enjoyed being with Mente a lot. They help expose you to a lot of things. They take you on lots of trips. We went out to Tigre and went on a river trip out there, and they take you to shows. I went to Fuerza Bruta and La Bomba del Tiempo. It's nice because you get to do all these extra activities, meet people through that, and you get to enjoy a lot of good company. It was a really good experience.

Hi, I'm Sophie. I'm from New York, and I was with Mente in Buenos Aires for three months, three and a half months. I stayed in Recoleta, in a really nice apartment. I really feel like I improved my Spanish a lot, with good teachers and fewer classmates, and my internship was incredible. I went to a gallery, also in Recoleta, and I got to see how the art world works in Buenos Aires, which is just really, really different from New York. I met incredible other employees who worked there, and my boss was amazing. I had a great time with the company, and with the concerts that were happening. Overall it was just an excellent experience.

My name is Amanda Hutchinson. I'm from Connecticut, but I came here with Ithaca College in upstate New York, right next to Cornell. I came to Argentina through Mente to do an internship program with an online news site in English. We kind of do more of the snarky side of the news. I have only been here six weeks, which is kind of a shame, because it has been so awesome that I can't even really put it into words. There has just been so much to do. I have gotten a lot of really good work in, journalistic stuff. I got my first journalistic piece published now. That was fun. Even just the Mente program in general, they were super helpful. Any time I had a really stupid question, they were always like, don't worry about it, here is all this information that you need to know. Never hesitate to contact us. We are here to help you.

I'm Yvonne. I'm from Australia. I've been in Argentina with Mente Argentina for two months, and I'm a journalism intern. I would definitely recommend Mente to anybody who's looking to live, study, intern, or volunteer abroad, because it's so handy to have a support network you know you can rely on, especially if it's your first time living overseas or your first time embarking on an adventure in a different country. They were great. They had a bunch of social activities, which were perfect for getting to know other people from other countries and for exploring the area you're living in. It was always easy to be in contact with them, and I never felt scared or left in the dark with anything I came across. They made the whole process very easy, so I definitely recommend them.

Hi, my name is Cristina. I'm from Alamosa, Colorado, and I came to Argentina to do an internship for my university and to take lessons. The best part about Mente is the connections they set you up with. With Mente, I was able to go to a really great tango studio, finish my requirements for the university, the kind of hours I had to fulfill. They found me a place to live, and you get into the VIP list, gym memberships, things that would be impossible to do without some inside help. I fell in love with Buenos Aires, and I know I will be back.

My name is Hanna, and I'm Mads. We are from Denmark, and we've been in Argentina for about a month. I'm doing the Spanish program because I want to speak Spanish better, and I got connected with a Spanish school. I got to do an internship for about a month at a marketing business, a very small business, so I actually got my hands on everything. That was awesome. It was a great experience. We got to know a lot of different people from all over the world and got to talk to them, and at the same time we got to know the entire city through Mente Argentina's activities. You go to all different parts of the city, which is amazing, so you see everything. We've been here for a month and we've seen the entire city, and it's been a really great experience. I really recommend Mente Argentina. If you're coming here, whatever you do, an internship, learning Spanish, just staying for a while, or university, go with Mente Argentina, because you get this kind of network from the beginning and you feel at home, and you won't feel homesick. It's great. I really liked the empanada class. The empanada experience is great, and the wine here, everything. I love the culture. It's amazing.

My name is Matthew Black. I'm from Bermuda, and I did a semester at a university, followed by six weeks in international cooperation. I have had a very, very good time in Argentina. I have done a lot of things. I love being here. I love Buenos Aires. I have been able to travel around. I have been to Patagonia and to Mendoza, and I even traveled in Brazil. It has been a really great place to be situated in South America. I enjoy a city lifestyle, so I am going to miss it a lot.

My name is Hugh Fitzpatrick. I'm from Australia. I just finished two and a half months with Mente Argentina, doing their internship program and Spanish courses. From the very first evening I arrived, when Ari met me at the apartment, it was a really good experience. Ari looked after me really well. David was always great with his emails about any questions or issues I had. I stayed in a shared apartment with three other people, and they were all really cool. It was great meeting people from Belgium and Switzerland, and more Swiss people. I would really recommend Mente Argentina. They set you up with some really good activities, and it's really easy to meet people who are here for a similar amount of time. I definitely made friends I can now see on my future travels. Activities we did, like the Argentine Experience, making empanadas in the shape of interesting things, were good fun, and La Bomba del Tiempo on Monday nights was always great. There were also pub crawls, tours to La Boca, graffiti tours, and going to the Teatro Colón, which was really good. I had an absolutely great time, and I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to improve their Spanish, get a good reference from the organization you work with, and just have a blast. So do it.

My name is Alex. I just completed my eight-week internship here in Buenos Aires with Mente Argentina. After two years of waiting because of a COVID delay, I was incredibly excited to finally be here. I really recommend studying with Mente Argentina. In my program, when I arrived in Buenos Aires, I was able to get a pickup straight to my homestay. There were people available to help me get situated in Buenos Aires, and I was able to go right into my internship. I did an internship in photography and video editing, so I'm leaving Buenos Aires with a lot more experience and connections in my field, with friends I made here, friends for life, and with the desire to come back. My name is Jerel Kelly. I'm from the UK, and I did an internship in international business and trade. My experience here was very good. I've enjoyed my time. I've learned a lot of Spanish, and my Spanish has improved. I would say one of the best immersion techniques you can do is to go full-blown into the Spanish-speaking world, or the Latin world. One of my favorite things about the city is the nightlife. Everyone and everything is open later than in Europe, which is different, and I quite like it. There's a lot of food here. The steak is amazing, the best I've had so far in the world. I would definitely recommend that anyone join Mente Argentina, or look them up and find information on courses or anything else they would like to do. I would definitely recommend them. My time here in Buenos Aires is coming to an end now, and I can definitely say I've enjoyed it.

My name is Gwin. I'm from Germany, and I did an internship that was basically social work. I helped kids in school and helped them with their homework. It was really awesome. I improved my Spanish a lot. I thought I could speak some Spanish, but when I came here I realized I couldn't speak anything. I traveled a lot, and I met so many new people here. That was awesome. I really can recommend it. You should make the best of it. Just try to do as much as you can, as much as you can afford. Meet new people, be open-minded, and try to improve your Spanish. Otherwise it won't be worth coming here, if you can't speak to anybody and you can't socialize.

My name is Sonio. I'm a rising junior, and I'm from North Carolina. I came here because I wanted to do a public internship, and honestly I was really happy with the experience. During my time here I was able to collaborate with a bunch of local people, work across cultures, and establish a clear plan for entrepreneurial businesses and work with them to help them succeed in their markets. The workplace here is actually really relaxed if you are looking to come here for an internship, but the work that you do here is actually really satisfying. I was able to conduct market research for a cosmetic company. I was able to actually talk to the CEO of the company, which is really cool. Besides work, the social life here and the food here, for the most part, are pretty good. I went to a place called La Guada, which is a small restaurant near the Mente office, and they are really good. If you are looking for good food, you should definitely go there. Through Mente they have a lot of events, such as escape rooms, or just free food, so coming here was really fun because you can meet a bunch of new people, socialize, and make a bunch of new friends. You can also go to different places in Argentina. During my time here, since I was here for three months, I was able to go to Iguazú, which is like a 12-hour bus ride away. Some of us went skiing, which is like a 20-hour bus ride away. I went to both with people I met through Mente, and that was really fun as well. If you are looking to come, broaden your eyes, study abroad, or just do something fun, I would definitely recommend Buenos Aires.

My name is Zach. I came to Argentina through Mente Argentina for a public health internship. I worked at a senior care facility for two months, and everything has been pretty great. Mente is very helpful. Every time I had a problem or I needed something, I could speak with Marcelo or any of the coordinators, and it was done very quickly. The accommodations were fantastic. Anytime there was a problem there, again, I simply had to ask, and it was taken care of. Mente does a great job helping you experience the city. They have lots of activities, like pizza tours, wine tasting, and picnics in the park. There is access to activities in the city that are a great way to meet local people. There are a lot of free activities or discount activities. You can go to the majority of the activities here. I would say it is a great experience, and I highly recommend Mente Argentina and Argentina.

My name is Matthias Rosco. I'm from England, near London, and I was doing an internship here. The people there were so friendly. It was a relaxed environment, and it was so good for my Spanish, because it was non-stop Spanish all the time. It was hard to keep up, which makes it so much easier to learn quickly. I really enjoyed it. There were loads of other interns, people my age, really multicultural, from all over South America as well as from Europe. My roommates were awesome. I was living with a girl from Poland, a girl from California, and a guy from Germany, and they're all really good friends even now. It's going to be really sad to leave them. The apartment was the perfect place, two blocks from the subway, really close to Recoleta, and really close to the center, so anywhere you want to go, bars, restaurants, whatever, it's perfect. You have to take advantage of Argentina as well. It was probably the best weekend since I've been here. A group of about 15 of us went, and it was a complete blast, three days in the sun by the pool. It's amazing, and you have to do that. People I know went to Patagonia and said it was amazing. The people are awesome as well. They're really friendly and so easy to get along with. If you have any problems, just go ask them. They're completely friendly, and that's it.

Hi, how's it going? My name is Emmanuel. I'm from Mexico, I'm 23, and I was in a six-week internship program here in Buenos Aires. I thought the program was very good, because professionally it helped me develop certain skills that I think I was missing so I could do my job better, and it helped me a lot. As for the program, the attention from Mente Argentina was very good. They're always looking out for you and organizing things, and that helps a lot, especially when you arrive in a country where you don't know anyone. They help you a lot to make friends and to have a group. I would really recommend the experience.

Hi, my name is Jacqueline Coleman, and I'm from Austin, Texas. I did the internship program through Mente Argentina. It was really accommodating and really nice, because I had no idea what to expect. This was my first time studying abroad in a foreign country, and they not only organized my living accommodations, but they helped me find my internship, helped me set up an interview, and started me off with city tours the first week I was here. It was a really comforting, really inviting environment. I made friends with the staff, and I got to speak to the roommates I was with before getting here, which was really reassuring. As far as the internship goes, that was probably one of the best job opportunities I've ever had. I made really good friends with the staff. They were all really helpful in helping me get used to the city as well. Hi everybody. My name is Nathaniel Schul. I just participated in Mente Argentina's internship program. I really think it is a wonderful opportunity for people who come to Argentina to have a blanket of people to be around, and to always be able to meet with a big group. It's frightening the first time you come here. It's an adjustment period, but Mente really makes it like a second home, and it's really easy to be part of this group. They have wonderful activities, wine tours, Spanglish events, and meetup events. To do an activity in this city, you wouldn't want to do it without being with Mente Argentina. It really is something special. Be part of this group. They're really great. I love the city. Buenos Aires is incredible. There are a lot of people and a lot of hectic activity, but you make your way around, and Mente helps you do that.

I did the semester program and an internship with Mente Argentina, and both were very helpful. I learned a lot of Spanish while I was here. At my internship we did wine tastings, and we export wine to the US. It was a good industry to get into down here. Wine is big. It's a fast-growing industry in Argentina. They were very helpful and very knowledgeable. The university was great. The professors were very helpful. They worked with us a lot if you're struggling with Spanish or with deadlines on papers. All of our professors worked with us very well on Spanish, and on getting papers in if you're traveling. They're very helpful, and very good staff. Everyone at Mente Argentina was very helpful. Whether you're in the process of leaving or arriving, or trying to find out information about something, you can always shoot them an email and you'll get a good response back. They're very helpful with getting a hold of you when you need it, or figuring out last-minute situations. Travel is very fun. Whether you're going to different provinces or you want to go to Chile for a while, hop on a bus. It's quick and it's easy. I met a lot of good people at the school, a lot of good friends, international students, a lot from Europe, most from the US, and some from the UK, Australia, and Asia. There's a good international community, and it's very helpful when you want to embrace a different culture that you don't know too well. You learn a lot from these people when you're traveling. One thing I always loved about Buenos Aires is the different barrios. Each barrio has its own vibe and atmosphere, and just by walking through them and seeing the sights you get a feel for it. The air is a bit different, the people are a little different in different barrios, and there's a different scene. My favorite was La Bomba. It was a very good time. It's drumming, all percussion. It's very fun. It's in a big warehouse, and tons of people go. You can definitely manage the semester and the internship together. The internship along with school can be a bit hectic sometimes, working out schedules and making everything fall into order, but for the most part your boss will work with you. They want you there to help out, so they're willing to manage a schedule according to what you need. I would definitely recommend it. I learned a lot through my internship that I wouldn't learn at school. Thank you, Mente, for a wonderful Buenos Aires experience.

Hi, I'm Mike Justice. I'm from the University of Michigan, and I'm living with a lot of other kids from my program and from other programs as well. That alone was enough of an experience for me. It's really cool. For me specifically, a lot of what they put forward for us was tours and different activities. Fuerza Bruta, which was a very big stomp show, and playing soccer with local Argentines were both very cool experiences, but very different at the same time. Along with city tours of very historical areas, it was very helpful and insightful for someone who really wanted to learn the city inside and out. Mente Argentina really provided every single thing that I could have imagined, and it was a great experience.

I'm Danielle Flesig. I'm from Rochester, New York, and I came to Buenos Aires for a medical internship. Mente Argentina hooked us up with the hospital. We did a lot of things with Mente, all the different activities they offered us. We went to La Bomba del Tiempo. We went to the Argentine Experience. We went to polo. We went to happy hours. We went to tango and salsa at La Viruta. We also went to Tigre with the group as a trip. We recently went to Colonia, Uruguay, too. It's been a great trip. I've learned a lot about Buenos Aires and the Argentinian people. They're fabulous. Even our portero invited us last night. He cooked for us. It was amazing. I didn't think I liked them until he made them for me, and now I don't mind them so much. I still don't like them, but okay. It was a really great experience here, and Mente Argentina really did a great job hooking us up with all these different opportunities.

Hi, my name is Scott File. I'm going to be a senior next year at Williams College, and I was here with Mente Argentina for a six-week program. I did four weeks of Spanish study. I was kind of rusty on Spanish, so I wanted to get back into it, especially Rioplatense, or Porteño, Spanish. It's a little bit different from what you might have studied in high school or college, so that's something I really appreciate. The double L makes a different sound, so it's kind of different, something to get used to, but I really liked it after a while. For my internship, I was a legal intern at a small law firm. We did intellectual property rights management and licensing. Some of my tasks included getting in contact with companies from all around the world, sending out emails, and translating documents from Spanish into English in a way that was marketable to different firms, so that we could get our name out there. The people at my office were really, really nice. I got to practice a lot of legalese in Spanish and office vocabulary. It was really cool to develop those skills. All along the way, Mente was very reliable and very helpful. We went on a lot of great trips together. Some of my favorites were Colonia, Uruguay. We went there for the day. It was a lot of fun, and I got another stamp in my passport. We also went to the Luján Zoo, which was an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime experience. I got to go into a pen with a lion, which is absolutely incredible. I'm not going to lie, I was a little bit scared, but it was a great time. I got to pet the lion and feed the lion milk, something you wouldn't be able to do anywhere else, so I really appreciate them for that. There were just a lot of great opportunities to hang out. Just recently, we went to a theatrical piece that was very crowd-involved, with a lot of water splashing around. It was a very unique experience, and something I wouldn't have known about if it hadn't been for the Mente Argentina staff bringing it to my attention and inviting me along, so that's something I really appreciate as well. One thing I wish I knew before I got here is more about the mate tradition, because it's something I discovered on the first day. I didn't really know too much about what it was. There was a guy staying here who introduced me to it. For a lot of people it's bitter at first, but if you give it a few tries, it's actually really good. I bought my own mate to bring with me to school. I think mate is going to be my go-to instead of coffee now, whenever I need to study or cram for a test.

Hi, my name is Lizzie, and I did the internship program with Mente Argentina in Buenos Aires. I really can't speak highly enough about the whole program experience. It was awesome to come into a new city and have pretty much a set group of friends already here for you, from all around the world, and to have our apartment in such a great area of the city. Palermo was so much fun. All the different apartments are close, but far enough away that you get to see a different part of the city too, and have places to go out in that area. The activities they offer are so varied and happening all the time, and you can choose which ones you want to do. Since it's all inclusive in the price, you don't have to worry about limiting yourself throughout the week. It's carte blanche. You can do whatever you'd like to do. Overall, it was a great experience, meeting really great people in this awesome city, and I recommend it to anyone.

Hey, my name is Piero Nava. I'm from New Jersey. I've been here for about a month and a half. I'm doing an internship, and the experience has been incredible. If you're on the fence about coming, you've just got to come, because you get a great experience work-wise. You meet a ton of people. There's so much culture out here. One of my favorite things about Buenos Aires is the food, the people you meet here, and there's so much art. In addition to that, there's just so much to explore. The city's enormous, and it's truly a great experience. If you're really thinking about this and you're not sure, I would recommend that you come, because for me this experience has been incredible. I've met great people, and I only have positive things to say about it. Mente Argentina has helped me out a lot with figuring out which barrios to go to, and social events and stuff like that. You meet other people, and it's just a really good time. I'd really recommend the trip.

I had a great time here, and a lot of it was due to Mente Argentina, because of all the great activities they organized for us. Mente Argentina made it easy for us to focus on our jobs, and then planned activities for us on the weekend, such as football and the tango shows, plus another activity that was an incredible experience. I really recommend Mente Argentina to anyone who comes to Argentina, because it allows you to have a good time without a lot of stress.

My name is Giray, and I'm from Turkey, but I go to school in Texas. My Mente Argentina experience here in Buenos Aires was great. I stayed for two months, and through Mente's events I got to know a lot of different people and a lot of different places and activities. What I liked the most was that everybody from Mente was always smiling and helpful whenever we wanted to do something or ask for something. Thanks to Mente, I truly felt like a porteño in my two months here.

My name is Sara. I'm from Serbia, but I'm currently studying in France. Right now I'm doing an internship here in Buenos Aires for four weeks, at an NGO that works with homeless people. I was so lucky to stumble upon Mente Argentina through a volunteer-abroad program, because I had so much trouble finding an internship, and I'm so lucky to have found this one. Buenos Aires is a great city. It's so vibrant. The people here are amazing and helpful. If you get lost, they're going to help you find your way, and the food here is amazing. There are so many cultural events going on every single day that sometimes it becomes hard to choose which one to go to. I really recommend going to a mate club, because you get to speak Spanish and English with locals and with other people who came from all over the world. Mente organizes about two activities per week. They can be cultural or more informal, such as going for brunch or lunch together. It's an amazing opportunity to meet new people who are also here with Mente, and to meet new friends. The Mente staff are very helpful. They're always there to help you no matter what your problem is. I really recommend coming here with Mente. Have fun.

I'm Julie Lord. I'm from Germany. I was here for a month, and I did an internship at a journalism station. It was really fun. I could write about a lot of stuff I'm interested in. I also really enjoyed my time here, the warm weather, and the weekend events and weekly events I went to. The graffiti tour was especially good, and I would recommend it. You should come.

My name is Jamie Reece. I'm from the United States. I came to Argentina with Mente Argentina to do a culinary internship. I had an amazing placement and learned a ton of new skills for my culinary education, and I had a great apartment right off Plaza Serrano, right in the heart of the party in Buenos Aires. It was a great time, and I highly recommend it.

My name is Shaun Lee, and I'm a rising junior at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. I concentrate in finance and management. The program I did here was called SAGE Corps, which I applied for and was fortunate enough to be accepted to, and I got paired with an internship at a technology startup called Shop Perception. At Shop Perception I've been given a lot of tasks, ranging from things in my field, finance and management, but they were also challenging me beyond my specialties, in marketing and other areas. So it's more on the professional side. Mente Argentina has helped me meet a lot of people from other programs, from all over the world and all over the United States. It feels like a critical program, especially for me, because I don't know a word of Spanish and I'm in the city right now. I'm thankful I survived, but Mente is always there for you whenever you need any kind of help, and they're really client-centric. They don't just follow their routine. They try to accommodate your needs and your requests, and they're always there to make sure that you have a wonderful time. Whether that's at a pub or on a trip to Mendoza, they're always there to help you in any way they can. I highly encourage the program, and I encourage working in the future.

My name is Gabby. I'm from New York City, and I came here through Mente Argentina to do an internship. It was a life-changing experience. Mente did a really good job of hooking me up with the activities that needed to be done. My internship entailed international cooperation, so it's going to help me a lot when I go back to continue my master's. I did a lot of networking and partnerships, and I learned how to use RACI, which is the grant search engine here in Argentina. Overall, Mente packages the trip really well. We get a phone, which is very necessary in order to connect with other Mente people for dinners, and I feel like I met people that I'm going to be friends with for the rest of my life. It was definitely a life-changing experience. Definitely RSVP to the Mente events you want to go to. La Bomba is amazing. The day trips are really great, and Mente will also give you really good information on how to do independent trips. Andre did a great job of helping me plan a trip to Iguazú. Just take advantage of everything you can while you're here in this country. It's definitely amazing.

I'm Sean. I'm a student at Northwestern University, and I came down here with Mente Argentina to intern at a tech startup. Mente was pretty awesome for us because they've organized a whole bunch of different events, from soccer to Fuerza Bruta, and even finding a gym that I can work out at every day. I think that really contributed to me not only being able to get a sense of Argentine culture, but also just having fun, because not only did I come down here to work, but I came down here to experience everything about Argentina. I think Mente really helped with that.

My name is Monica Campos. I did the internship program with Mente Argentina. I did a PR and marketing internship with a famous photographer from here. It was a really fun experience, because it helped me a lot in the workplace, especially being in a bilingual setting where I only had to speak Spanish. I think I got a lot of good experience from that to bring back home. I met a lot of amazing friends. I made a friend named Karen whom I've been really close with, and she's probably going to come visit me in LA, and we'll see each other in Denmark. I also worked with a girl named Kesha, who was really great, and I miss her already. My friends and my roommates were all amazing, including Gabby and Claire, and even the boys. It was really fun living with boys and having that experience, because I had never done that before. It was amazing. I recommend it for everyone, and thank you for everything.

My name is Giuvini Gomez. I came to Argentina to do an international business internship. My major is healthcare administration, and my school is National University in San Diego. During my stay I participated in various negotiations between entrepreneurs from countries like Brazil, Bolivia, and Peru. I also did a radio show, and I learned a lot. I had awesome roommates and an awesome time in Argentina. I recommend that you be fearless, come on down, and try it yourselves.

I'm Xanat. I spent seven weeks with Mente Argentina, and it was an incredible experience. They brought me right up to the chance to start a professional internship at the Chamber of Commerce. I also met many people through the events they held. The events were of all kinds, and they were a way to get to know the whole city. It was incredible, and it gave me a very good experience. I think Argentina has opportunities, and Mente Argentina opens those opportunities and brings them to you. I also think you broaden all your senses through this experience. With taste, you start trying new things and new food, and you learn what you like and what you don't. There is also a wine tasting during this experience, and it's incredible. With touch, I can express that through the tango classes I also attended, and they were really good. Sight comes into it too, with all the new horizons you see. The whole experience widens, and your outlook becomes something completely new. Smell is incredible as well: smelling new wines, tasting them, and telling the differences is incredible. And last, speech: being in contact with other classmates who speak different languages and different slang, and whose customs are so rich. You start hearing English or Portuguese, or living in a residence and working every day with people who are completely different, from a completely different background. It's a very rich experience, and I highly recommend it.

I'm Sarah Trimble. I came to Argentina to do an internship with Mente Argentina. I absolutely loved it, so much that I extended my stay for another week. I wish I could extend it for another couple of months. I met people from all around the world, spoke a lot of Spanish, and spoke a lot of British English, which was different too. I met a lot of people from everywhere, and I really recommend it.

My name is Amber. I am Vietnamese and English, and I live in Germany at the moment. I recently completed a course in journalism, and what I basically needed was tangible work experience before I could go to work in Germany. While I was here, I was placed with two companies, and both were really valuable in the long run. In one I was doing more oral work, like radio, talking and interacting with people, and then writing a newsletter. In the other placement I was in more of an office environment, working with websites, a little bit of coding, and at the same time a lot of content writing. All in all, I had no idea it was going to be this good. I thought it was just going to be kind of like university, where you go to classes, get things done, and work things out, but it was a whole experience where you assimilated into Argentine culture entirely. Everybody is so welcoming. Everybody is so keen to share their bit, their understanding of Argentina, with you. Although I've only been here for one month, I feel like I experienced 20 years' worth of a comprehensive Argentine experience through all the different people I've met. It was a fantastic opportunity, and I would definitely say go with Mente Argentina.

I'm Kathleen Grace. I'm a student at the University of Michigan, and I came here through a paired program with Stage Corps and Mente Argentina. Mente Argentina provided us with a lot of opportunities to do things in Buenos Aires that I never would have even known existed, such as the Argentine Experience, going to see a tango show, and going to see Fuerza Bruta. All of these were really amazing, and I never would have known about them without Mente Argentina. It was also nice to have somebody to ask when I didn't know how to do something and get a quick answer, without having to worry about whether Google was right or wrong. You just talk to people who have been living here for a while. Mente Argentina was a great resource for us, and I'm really thankful that we paired with them.

My name's Alley. I'm from New York. I study at Columbia University, and I have loved my experience here in Argentina, in Buenos Aires, doing the Mente Argentina program. I lived in a student residence and enjoyed it a lot. I got to meet students from all over the world who wanted to study and live in Palermo, and we hung out a lot and went to cafes and restaurants. I interned with a social media company, and a lot of my responsibilities included working with 3,000 Latin American clients, gathering information about the clients, and making sure the partnerships between the firm I was working for and the clients were healthy. What I enjoyed most about Buenos Aires were the museums. I went to MALBA a lot. I love MALBA, and I highly recommend the Mente Argentina staff and going through the program. One of my favorite things to do with the program was the Tigre excursion. That was my favorite excursion. It gave me a chance to get outside Buenos Aires and do something different. The office was a technology-based social media firm, so the culture was something I was accustomed to. It was smart casual. I would say it was a startup, and a lot of startups have that culture of a T-shirt and jeans, more based on what you do than the way you look. I found the culture similar to America, but very welcoming and very inviting. Everyone was always very nice and helped me learn Spanish and practice my Spanish every day. My advice is to try to do as many outdoor things as you can. Go to the parks. I love the parks. The museums are free, which is something I didn't know before I came here, so that was a nice treat. Walk around Palermo in Buenos Aires, and just get ready to have some fun and meet some new people. One thing I would note is that it's a huge city and very diverse, so you're going to encounter people from all over the world. I would recommend that students go through Mente Argentina, because the staff here have been incredibly helpful. They help with the immersion experience and any questions you have, and they help place you at an internship that really fits your needs, based on where you are, what you want to do, and what responsibilities you want to have while you're here.

My name is Michael. I came here from Colorado. I just finished college, and I'm about to start medical school. I came down here to get a little clinical experience in a system that's pretty different from the one in the US. Overall, I learned a lot, and I was able to do a lot. I definitely did not expect there to be so much going on and so much opportunity here, but I got my fill of great experiences, and I'm really happy I came. It does get cold here, so keep that in mind. I did not bring enough cold clothes, just thinking of South America, so definitely plan ahead for packing. The one thing they do really well here is food. There are a lot of empanadas, and I would recommend trying a different empanada place every day. And the coffee. I would go to a different cafe every day, because I'm a coffee drinker, and I thought that was better than going to just one place. Same thing with going out and going to restaurants. The one thing I liked a lot was how flexible it was. I chose how much responsibility I had in the internship I did at the hospital. On the other hand, all the internships, including my own, were self-led, so you kind of got out what you put in, which again allowed for a lot of flexibility, and I liked that. Have a great time.
