Paige's experience with Mente Argentina

Paige, from California and Cal Poly, spent five months on the semester program at Belgrano University, taking Spanish and other courses in a program for international students, which made it easy to make friends. Her classes, some in Spanish and some in English, were challenging yet left time to explore, and her Spanish improved tremendously. She found Mente the most affordable program available, and as a small program it catered to students' needs, including handling the paperwork with her home university during a stressful time. Happy hours and tours helped her settle in when she didn't yet know anyone or the city. She started in a shared apartment and loved it, but when she wanted more Spanish practice, Mente moved her into a homestay within a week, something that really stood out for her. She loved Buenos Aires, made many friends through language exchanges with locals, took a watercolor class on her own, and found it easy to fit weekend trips around her school schedule.

I'm Paige. I'm from California, and I did the semester program with Mente Argentina. It was a great experience. For five months I was here studying at Belgrano University, taking Spanish and other courses. I was in a program with foreigners at Belgrano, so it was easy to make friends. Some of my classes were in Spanish and some were in English. Both were challenging enough, but they still gave me a lot of time to explore the city. I really enjoyed all my classes, and I learned a lot of Spanish. My Spanish improved tremendously on this program. One thing I like about Mente Argentina is how affordable it was. It was the most affordable program I found, and, being a small program, they really catered to our needs. I was able to sign up, and they were very helpful getting everything back to my home university and getting everything I needed signed. It was a very easy process during a stressful time of trying to go abroad, so that was very helpful. Being a small program, Mente Argentina does a lot of little activities with us, happy hours and different tours. That was helpful when I first got here and didn't know anyone and didn't know the city. Doing a lot of tours, it was nice to get accustomed to the city easily. I stayed in a shared apartment, and I loved it, but when I wanted to move into a homestay because I wanted to speak more Spanish, Mente Argentina was really helpful and got me into a homestay within a week. I thought that was awesome of the program, to accommodate that I wanted to speak more Spanish. That was definitely something that stood out. Other than that, I love the city. I love Buenos Aires. I made a lot of friends here. I did language exchanges with people from here, and that was really helpful, so I met a lot of people that way. I took a watercolor class on my own. That was a highlight of being here, learning something new that I wanted to do. I took some trips. It was easy to leave the city for the weekend and come back with my school schedule. I had a great time, and I really recommend Mente Argentina.
