Gautam's experience with Mente Argentina

Gautam, from the University of Texas at Austin, spent a month and a half in Buenos Aires combining a pediatrics internship at a hospital with the intensive Spanish program, four hours of class a day. After years of high school and college Spanish that never quite clicked, he found that being immersed in the culture helped him learn quickly and at a high level, and he recommends the hospital internship to anyone in or after college who wants experience abroad. He appreciated the small things Mente takes care of that you don't think of when planning a trip, like a local cell phone and airport transfers. It was his first time in South America, and Mente planned his trip to Mendoza's wine country, showing him the safest way to go, as well as the best places to eat and the safe areas to shop in Buenos Aires. He leaves grateful for having someone to guide him along the way.

Hey guys, I'm Gautam. I just finished the Mente Argentina program. This is my last day, which is kind of sad, but I want to tell you a little bit about my experience here. I got here a month and a half ago, and Mente has been amazing at introducing me to a second language and hooking me up with a great internship at a hospital. The work I was involved in was pediatrics. It's a great experience for people who are in college, or maybe after college, who want to gain experience in another country. I also did the Spanish study abroad program, the intensive program, which is amazing. You're in a class for four hours a day and you learn Spanish. One of the big things for me has always been learning a second language. I've been taking classes in high school and in college, but I've never been able to grasp Spanish. Coming to Buenos Aires, you're just immersed in the culture, and you really learn Spanish at a very high level and very rapidly. Another thing I'm happy about is that Mente hooks us up with cell phones that we use here. They take care of the ride to the airport and back. All these small things that you don't think of before planning a trip, they take care of for you. I also wanted to visit Mendoza, which is the wine country in Argentina, and they planned it all out for me, told me how to do it, and found the safest way. It's a little scary traveling to another country, maybe for the first time, and for me it was my first time in South America. I was happy that somebody guided me along the way, showed me the best places to go, the best places to eat in Buenos Aires, and the safe areas to shop. I really have to thank Mente Argentina for that. If anybody needs any help, I'm Gautam. You can take my email down and shoot me an email if you have any questions.
